Re the A3 Sunday, I see that the cycle ride crosses it twice (well, I expect it goes under or over at two crossing points). Does anyone know if this'll cause delays? Sounds like the A3 is best avoided.

Hi All,

Now doubt you're probably all aware of the usual spots, but here is a link showing mobile and fixed speed cameras sites as you near Goodwood, West Sussex.

Hi

Got my pass today, taking the Vanquish. Anyone going from the Camberley area?
I'm from Camberley but won't be travelling by Aston

I'm heading down in the Aeromax and have a grid invite. Make of that what you will in terms of the theme. In terms of ticket - it depends on the gate folks and when you get there and how busy it is..

Indeed, I have a grid invite but will be more than happy to park in one of the sheds - oops sorry, 'historic race paddocks' biggrin

Um, I'll be bringing my car that actually fits the pre 66 bill- I'm getting really fed up with people turning up with any old car regardless of theme and being let in. I hope it doesn't end up as a massive Aston fest and the classics get ignored.

A bit harsh seeing as it specifically says with nod to Aston Martin still as it's your first post, welcome to Pistonheads.
P.s. I think I qualify on both counts hehe

Maybe a little harsh but come on Goodwood- pick your theme and stick with it. I took one of my cars to Supercar Sunday and it was chaos. I'm bringing my 63 Mk 1 Lotus Cortina tomorrow and really looking forward to the drive down. Oh, and thanks for the welcome note smile

I went to the Supercar Sunday and thought the new ticket system worked perfectly. Now it is NOT up to the guys on the gate to make any decisions on who goes where. If you have a ticket you go into the circuit if you don't it is the car park. And that is that. All we need to hope for now is that those issuing the tickets have half an idea about what is what.

I totally agree in principle, but I did have a couple of gripes about SC Sunday. First, I was driving my classic Ferrari and had to park on the grass infield- I actually had a 'pass' for the paddock but there were so many cars they couldn't cope. Also, I've been going to breakfast clubs forever, and when I jumped in the Ferrari at around 10am to leave this year I got told off by a Goodwood bod for leaving- as you all know it has always been a come and go as you please event so a bit rubbish I felt.

We have a pass for my fiancées Classic Mini Cooper, we are going to Guidlford Catherdral for 6.45 and setting off at 7am if anyone wants to join us.

As for the ticket system I wouldn't worry to much, you can still get in on the day as long as the gate men recognize your car as part of the theme, the ticket just guarantees you can sail in without agro.

Kind of my point! If they let us all in anyway if we have a suitable car (as opposed to an Aeromax........!) then why bother with the registration?? I've always been a real fan of Breakfast Club over the years but not this year- I may retire my cars from it next year.

I not arguing I fit the theme! But I got an unprompted invite this week. Maybe they don't have enough classics registered?

I love a run to goodwood so I'll be there, any excuse - I'm a petrolhead. Just hope the c-types turn out like they did for SC Sunday. Love those things. One day...

I think that's the nail smacked well and truly on the head.... Not enough cars of original theme, so GWBC tweaked the title by dropping the pre-'66 requirement, not a major big deal. Still best guarantees a load of great and interesting cars for today.

I am neither pre-'66 or an Aston Martin, although I wouldn't mind being either or both!

I don't know why some people get a bit precious over these GWBC events, just go and enjoy other people's pride and joy for what it is, whatever the make or registration year.

Well there's a great line up of classics already, and some interesting modern stuff too.

I never get why so many people moan about breakfast club, its a free event at the end of the day.

It is in our blood and negativity is drummed into us by media/tv etc.
I used to gripe about the queues in the early days.I actually started to enjoy sitting in them and supping up the atmosphere and looking at the other cars.
I think we all owe a bit of a thankyou to Lord M for organising such great events! If it were not for the likes of him, we would not get up so close to great machinery and would still be paddling round muddy fields(they still have their place) or the Burgerking carpark.

Some interesting ideas on "Thoroughbreds" slipping on to the grid. Simon's(judging from the number plate) Bentley and a 2012 Lotus Evora to name but two.
Otherwise some gorgeous machinery, especially the little Alfas.

Awesome drive to good wood this morning. Left Crawley with a mate in another TVR at 6:30 and barely saw another car before reaching the circuit.

Some superb cars to look again too.

Great way to spend a Sunday morning.

Brian.
