Absolutely stonking weekend, such a great event and relished every moment of being there over the two days with some great people also. Felt very privileged indeed to be a part of the first, and what turned out to be, one of the best events at Goodwood for a long time. Obviously the weather plays a major part in these outdoor events and to luck out with two days of sunshine really helped top it all off. cool

Don't understand the whinge about food prices, its no different for any event where there is a captive audience, at least at Goodwood the food is of a decent quality. It's a simple choice for people, you either bring your own and lug it about all day or you just decide that your going to eat from one of the stalls and be prepared to take a hit on the prices.

Seeing the F40 pace cars was great as there were certainly "on-it" and to see one of them on Saturday launch out of the pit area in a full sideways drift on lock stops was spectacular clap Trouble is I understand the Longtails and F1 cars were meant to be on a parade lap but some of them still got held up to a certain extent. I was chatting to one of the chaps associated with one of the F1 cars and he was saying that as the cars couldn't really get up to speed they lost so much temperature in the engine (down to 30 degrees) that the cars end up running bad with the misfires and poor acceleration etc. as they drop out of their operating window. Maybe next time there should be no pace cars and just let the cars go their own speed, that way the cars that want to go fast have the ability to do so, even if it means they overtake the slower cars at some point.

Seeing quite a few celeb faces from the automotive world just casually wandering around the place without a gaggle of autograph hunters chasing them down was also nice to see. So many things to highlight from the day but instead i'll just finish off saying a MASSIVE hats off to Lord March and to all his staff and helpers at Goodwood for putting on such an event. bow

Had a cracking weekend, felt like September 1998 all over again. Some of the best racing I’ve seen, and had a very different “feel” from the more recent Revival meetings. Marshalled at the chicane for both days, and great that we had no major incidents. Ollie Bryant very very lucky in the last race of the weekend. 70’s touring cars were fantastic, and predictable that they’d take on the chicane. The airborne Alfa had me nervous, great pic.

Love the photos in this thread, and sorry if the pair of marshals at the chicane exit got in the way at all. You have to be in that position, and there’s just no way of disappearing.

I’m sure that Goodwood will pick up on the minor teething issues, and the next event will of course be even better. Just need to make sure the same weather is rearranged again…. And open the Shell Building bar on Saturday evening please!

Wonderful weekend - I was hoping that it was going to be good, but it surpassed my expectations by some distance! I loved the unrestricted access - some great new photo opportunities...

...which is all well and good if you don't then leave your camera behind at the prize-giving ceremony. Which is then serious 'doghouse' territory when you remember it's actually your wife's shiny new camera.

In all seriousness though, if anyone knows anything about a camera being picked-up/handed-in I'd be very grateful. Apparently there was a memory stick of my 5 year old daughter stuffed at the bottom of the case. I can just about live with being a muppet and losing my Goodwood photos, but losing pics of my little girl is going to be hard to take.

I've phoned Goodwood a few times already, and they're very nice, but I've been told it could take up to 2 weeks for things to be handed-in/collated. Which worries my slightly.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Dear Goodwood team,
From someone who really has to think about spending between £70/£120 on a day out, I just wanted to say it was well worth it. My main reason for going was to see the F1 cars, Le mans cars, Group b rally cars and classic touring cars, I certainly wasn't disappointed. I loved the fact it was access all areas, also it was good to see 95% of people making the effort with their attire. Food was really good and to eat on the table next to Rowan Atkinson and Sterling Moss was brilliant. I loved the caravan dukebox, in my opinion the best thing there in the evening.
My only complaint which is pretty minor was that some of the toilets were quite dirty.
It was good not to have to sit in traffic for ages and not have big crowds, im still going to the festival of speed though.
Thanks for a good day out
The dukebox was my favourite (dancing to Run DMC!) and regarding toilets, the shell building had some very nice brand new toilets fitted in preparation for hosting the 70s bar recreation. The bar was also totally awesome, BTW. Had a couple of pints in there sat by the window watching the track.

That's the song I chose, im going to email them and ask for an mp3 file of there version.

I really enjoyed the event.

I was shocked to see this car though. I was told it has spent the last 25 years+ hidden in Japan.
