Its a bit of a bugger - I'm driving Thursday and Saturday, but my friend is driving on teh Friday and he isn't a GRRC member, so I will, like you, have to remember to flip the sticker between cars
A good reminder for myself. This is my first year as a GRRC member at FOS I remember seeing the signs to follow for members but I assume the marshals are pretty good at spotting the sticker and directing you?wilwak said:
Anyone know what the traffic is like if we aim to arrive at midday just for the afternoon? Will the inbound traffic have eased by then?
Last year I aimed for a 9am - 10am arrival and the traffic was a nightmare. 2 hour queue.
Just don't fancy getting there for 7am!!!
Thanks.
What day? If it's the weekend and the weathers nice you could still have long delays around Chichester. Last year I aimed for a 9am - 10am arrival and the traffic was a nightmare. 2 hour queue.
Just don't fancy getting there for 7am!!!
Thanks.
You really won't see much at all in half a day.

What are you planning to see arriving 4 hours late?Last year I aimed for a 9am - 10am arrival and the traffic was a nightmare. 2 hour queue.

If you really cant get there before 7:30am, which is 1 hour before the cars start moving, then why fork out £60 to go?

Question to those who have turned up at the magic 0700hrs in the past...
Do any/all of the public catering facilities usually serve a hot breakfast?

uess it depends what you mean by hot breakfast. I was there this morning and there were loads of caravans selling bacon/sausage/egg baps etc. but didn't see any proper English. I made my way to the little cottage at the back of the supercar paddock where I've had a good full breakfast in the past but they are only doing baguettes and cakes this year.
I noticed that "breakfast club" is no longer there. What did the cake look like, I'm a sucker for cake. SydneyBridge said:
I used it this morning and it was not physically closed. Just signs saying it was. Hence it was very quiet but they may put staff there from tomorrow to stop people
Thursday is only moving motorshow, the signs say for festival of speed road closed There's also an unwritten rule that you should not post quiet routes online as then others will use it which means they get blocked stopping all people from using them.
Here's a left field answer : take the train
This is not an eco thing but practical - if you have a good direct route to Chichester there are often very cheap Southern Railway day-trip fares and its much quicker for the last ten miles - there is then a bus with priority from the station to Goodwood (MMS/Festival & Revival)
And you can then have a few sherbets

I dropped my boyfriend off this morning at Gate 1. On the way out I headed south towards the A27. At 7.15 the traffic was queuing fron the Pizza Hut/McDonalds roundabout, past the motor circuit entrance to the carparks.
Seems as though everyone is getting there early, best looking traffic jam I've ever seen!

So, the buses bypass the queues? Do they have special lanes? This is not an eco thing but practical - if you have a good direct route to Chichester there are often very cheap Southern Railway day-trip fares and its much quicker for the last ten miles - there is then a bus with priority from the station to Goodwood (MMS/Festival & Revival)

I ask because I'm going on Saturday and I can't get there before 9am. I really don't want to sit in traffic for a couple of hours or more and it's simple for me to get from my home to Chichester.
ETA: I've spoken to Goodwood. Apparently the buses use backroads to avoid the traffic. So, no brainer for me. We're going by train.
