Starts to get limited, I'm guessing next best is Singleton and over the top to racecourse

The red line is the traffic free route everyone is taking about to enter Goodwood.
The blue line is the one to take to exit.
'New Road' is one way during the festival - meaning you can't exit the same way you came in if you want to go home the same way. So when leaving the car park, drive up to the entrance to the event (where everyone walks in after parking) and turn left - This will bring you onto Kennel Hill and back onto the roundabout with New Road.

The red route is marked as being closed at East Lavant for the FOS, be interesting to establish if it was today

Went yesterday(thurs) - took me 5.5 hours from Milton Keynes. 3 hrs round the M25 and 2 hours for the last 6 miles - total nightmare.
Part of the problem is that they fill the massive car parks up via a single file entry (and exit for that matter). Given its a well known problem why dont they put more effort into making things work better?

The car park I drove through this morning looking to exit appeared to have 6 or 7 entrances and only 1 exit, plus I couldn't access my usual route home as it had 2 lanes of traffic queuing to get in. Not sure what else they can do, they close as many roads as they can and make them either entry or exit only with traffic control. They also have to allow for local traffic to get around Goodwood, some of us who live locally still have to carry on with our lives during the weekend ;-)

Closed, or single file as it was yesterday.

I left my house (Rochester, Kent way) about 5-5:30am, early I know, got there for just after 7. Went along the A27, and basically drove straight in. Parked next to the Porsche stand, and I was confirmed to be early, as going into the Porsche stand I nearly completely bypassed the 918 Spyder. As there was no one there looking at it!

My fool proof solution is not to use the "Morning Approach", but the "Evening Approach".

I will be arriving at my tent around 8pm tonight and will enjoy a few beers in the Goodwood Hotel before having a lie-in tomorrow morning and walking across the road to the event.

Did this last year as well, and it's the only way to go.

I was planning on using the A3 route from London to get to this point...If this red route is indeed closed tomorrow will I be redirected towards the FOS further up the route? Might sound like a daft question, but merely FOS paranoia setting in.

Thanks

I would personally go via Petersfield or Ferhurst and then through Midhurst and over the top past the horse racing course (follow the signs to singleton open air museum and keep going up the hill).

Whoever said it was closed was wrong - they are operating a one way system as I described above.

Nope - you'll get stuck going through Singleton if you take that route.
Trust me - my map is the best and *only* option if you want to avoid *all* the traffic.

Quite, we had absolutely no problem getting in last year 1/2hr before the gates opened by following the signposted route south from the A3 (heading from Guildford way).

People turning up 'late' are inveitably going to get stuck in traffic. But please keep doing it as it means the rest of us early birds get an easy run!

Never known it so quiet, arrived at 10am and drove straight in.
