I have been up in a flight in a Cessna 4 seater from Goodwood airfield and that went over to the coast and was excellent. Not sure how much as was a long time ago

I went for 2nd year running and enjoyed it. Met some great people and drove the M3, Citroen's and Cupra R up the Hill. The key is get there early for 7am and sign up at the stands. And get away for 3 at the latest otherwise getting out of the car park is a real headache.

£45pp for what they say is a 5-10 minute buzz of the Festival
Yeah that seems steep £35pp for 15min I would say is about right. Although it would be quite an impressive site from the air as you really don't grasp how big the event is from the ground.

I've flown over the revival in a helicopter getting dropped off and I was seriously impressed with the size of the event outside of the track.
I looked into a flight today but before I found out a price I decided to time a flight from lift off to landing was just over 4 mins im sorry but for £45pp I would expect flight of 15-20mins

I think to do the test drives you need to get in early and make a bee-line to get signed up. Mind you I didn't bother, too lazy. biggrin

I never bother, if I was semi interested in buying a car at the time of FOS then I probably would try so you can do a back to back comparison (although very brief). I think a lot of people do it to say they've driven the hill. But I've done it in my car so I win??

How they can't sort the parking out is a mystery. Year after year of 2hr queues. All they have to do is usher people into a field to park up. How hard can it be?

'Oh no, lots of people have turned up'. About the same number that you've provided tickets to I guess.

This morning 1.5hrs after arriving a mile away from gate 4 on Kennel Hill at 9.30am. Yes, should have got there earlier, but kids needed dropping off at school!

Anyway good when in, it was value for money (on a free ticket).

It is not not a goodwood related issue. I work a large amount of airshows through the summer and the are all just as bad. I remember cosford last year the wait was over 4 hours to get in!!!!!

Half the problem( and not a Goodwood but all events problem) is everybody seems to want/ need to talk to the marshals directing people in, I'm sure in most cases trying to buck the system, if people just got on with it it would be fine

I've heard Cosford is really bad too. Frustrating thing yesterday was just two lines looking to enter a field and park up. No real local traffic at that point. I think the stopping to ask marshalls doesn't help, but surely they can make it easier.

Come up with an idea let us know and then I'll sell the idea to every event in the uk with more than 10,000 visitors per day. wink

I turned up around 8am today every car in front of me couldn't seem to understand the marshals. As cars were turning left the marshals were signalling to go right to speed up their entry but it seemed far to complex!!!

Got in the GRRC forward parking before 7, but there was already a queue to get in and it seemed everyone was let in from about 7.15. I think they only use the 'bottom field' for the MMS and open up all the other parking areas from the Friday onwards.

Was a great day - saw what I wanted to see, took photos of what I wanted to gawp at and orientated myself for the next 2 days of the Festival, scoping out what my best mate will / wont want to see tomorrow, and then what my 8 y/o at his 1st FoS will want to spend all his time shooting to and from smile

One quick unrelated-to-the-OP-question question - Has anyone been on the Helicopter Pleasure flights and are they any good. They're totally overpriced, but for his 1st helicopter ride and his 1st GFoS I may relent and treat my boy
How much were the flights? I'm guessing its a 15min flight.

Well, it was pricey but we both bloody loved it!! Thanks to everyone for their input, both for and against, however looking at my sons face before, during, and after the trip made it worthwhile!
