I didn't realise VXR8's were a supercar neither... but hey ho. smile

However, it was excepted at the Supercar Breakfast meet earlier this year , and last year. It is actually imported in from Australia to the UK, it is actually a Holden Special vehicles HSV a-la AMG . Tom Walkinshaw ( Walkinshaw Performance) it has a Chevrolet V8 6.2l supercharged engine producing nearly 600 hp. Tom and his company ( Walkinshaw Performance from Oxfordshire) was responsible for putting the car together originally. As he was also responsible for a lot of work done on Jags too. So the car and the mark has thoroughbred origins .

I am sure you are aware that Aston Martins were actually tractor makers first. David Browns and David brown gear boxes. Hence why Aston Martins were called DB4,5 and so on.

My father used to have several David Browns. Their cars were better then their tractors. smile

Calm down mate, I was referring to Thoroughbred Sunday not supercar stuff.

As for Aston Martin's history you're a tad confused. wink They didn't start out making tractors. They actually started making cars around the end of WW1 many years before their acquisition by David Brown. Check out Bamford & Martin, Renwick & Bertelli, Gordon Sutherland etc.

Ha, ya kind of weened myself off of PH - just the odd post now (all been said years ago).

Nice run out today. Pity the GW people have Zero clue on what is a pre-66 car. All sorts of crap allowed in.

Must have been 6 plastic Cobras on the start finish straight. Shocking. At ;east we go to see the 2 seat Spit. And laid some rubber on the way out. Nice rag with a few 911 on way back.

For me this was just about the perfect Goodwood Breakfast. Still loads of people but not massive Super Car crowds and just an amazing collection of cars. Short queues for a cuppa and a lot of enthusiastic Daytona fans.

I didn't realise there was meant to be an Aston Martin theme going on, where did you see that?

I reckon I got confused with last years do, a link to which was re-activated in the past week or so. Apologies my mistake, no Aston nod. Loads of Jags...was there a Jag nod? Actually more Porsche 356's than anything....maybe a 356 nod?

I'd agree with this. There certainly wasn't as many cars on show but the ratio of cars to quality certainly was highest I've seen it in a long time.

Then a quick stop at the kennels before a picnic in front of the house at the GRRC members day with a nice Maserati birdcage and mclaren P1 in the mix with a very tidy 1.3 GL metro smile

Yeah, last year was the centenary of the founding of Aston Martin in 1913. The centenary has been open to debate because then the 1st WW came along and they didn't make any cars until afterwards but Ulrich Bez decided it was a good idea to celebrate so everyone went along with it. wink

Lovely event this morning, only shame was that there were plenty of interesting cars in the car-park and not very much on the hard-standing area. I presume it's just too difficult to determine what should be "interesting" enough to go there, but nonetheless that element of the event seems to have been lost.

Anyway, a range of pics:

And it doesn't matter how many times I see one - the Dino always looks FAR bigger than I expect it to be.

Gorgeous CSL in the car park.

The Jag again. The colour was like ink - gorgeous deep blue / black.

Pre '66?

This Jag made the day for me - It was a well used example in great colours with real patina.

Why does the front of the nose look wrong? Or if not wrong, different?

No bumper - no top of wing side lights?
