To the whiners and moaners:-
You went to a Hot Hatch meet.
Were there Hot Hatches there? YES.
Did it cost you anything to enter - NO.
Was it a great venue - YES.
Does the Lord March have to host this type of event - NO.
So quit your fricking whining and moaning, be grateful for LM's generosity and don't go again.

Cheers, Pewe.

I admit I did not enjoy this Breakfast Club. But I am NOT stopping other people enjoying the theme. The Theme was not for me. I am not one of the moaners and whingers etc.
Great morning looking at some great cars, love the 80s and 90s hatchbacks although not sure if the RS200 is classed as a hb!
I also thought that some of the cars were better Sunday morning than they were back in the day out of the factory. good to see the cars are still around and looking fab in the sun.

It felt as if I was walking around the car park at Sainsburys. Cars that you use to do your shopping or use to get you from A to B etc.
I can see your point but I think Chav might be a little strong ;-) The hot hatch genre will never be as glamorous or exciting as lets say supercars with universal appeal but has greater relevance for owners of included models and similar/same models. I like that people who may never normally have the opportunity because of theme qualification to display their steed in such prestigious surroundings had their day. The theme was a success it seems but maybe the problem is with the theme rather than the attendees??

The theme yesterday I have not got a problem with. I am happy for new themes etc. I went with an open mind. As I may have seen cars that I have not seen before etc.
Nothing made me go "WWOOWW" etc.
With the Supercar Sunday, you do get cars you do not see every single day.
Yesterday, I purely did not enjoy the theme. It was like the Sushi Sunday last year. I did not enjoy that one. Japan makes good reliable family cars. But I would not stop other people enjoying the theme or the cars. As it would be boring if everyone enjoyed and loved the same cars.
The whole point of having themed events is that they probably will not appeal to everyone, I don't get why people cant's just enjoy a nice sunny Sunday morning chatting about cars and enjoying a nice bacon roll with like minded people.
The world would be a boring place if we all had the same tastes.

Well said..... The world would be a boring place if we all had the same tastes.
It was a beautiful sunny fresh morning. Life is too short. All because I did not enjoy the theme. DOesn't mean someone else doesnt
We can't all enjoy all the themes.
Personally I prefer the older stuff, but Sunday probably introduced a new generation of pertolheads to Goodwood.
I wonder who thinks up the themes and if there is any deep thought in choosing them? Do they use the "Suchi Sunday" to attract new people to the circuit or "Supercar Sunday" to generate custom at The Kennels / Goodwood Hotel etc.

Nothing so scientific, they keep the usual popular ones and add a few random ones which they chat about over a beer. p.s. I agree the odd-ball themes are fine, if I don't have an interest I simply don't go.

Some country based themes like an Italian and German theme would be good.
They've been done over the years.'Deutsch Marques! - a tribute to Germany’s finest motoring marvels’
Forza Italia ‘Italian brio – from scooters to supercars’
Vine la France - ‘A celebration of unique French automotive flair’

I'm one of those that is probably quite critical about the themes. However I completley agree they need to keep the classic themes like supercar Sunday and soft top Sunday whilst varying it up so we see a variety of cars and don't get bored.
However a few themes like sushi Sunday and hot hatches instantly popped in P&O my head as not being interesting, sushi Sunday was just that (albeit the odd rare car) and from speaking to a few that went sunday my doubts were justified.
That being said everything but the car Could easily be seen as a bad theme prior to the event but I think it was one of my favourite events. As was the deutsch theme I am not a fan of German cars but was a fantastic display of machinery.

I like the mix of themes that they've had over the years and some are always more popular than others.
Great to see the old 80's stuff I lusted after all those years ago, RS Turbos, 205 GTi's, Golf GTI'S Sierra Cosworth etc. the only thing I didn't see was an MK 3 XR3i. I saw the black XR3 and the RS1600i, but I can't remember the last time I saw an XR3i. I owned 2 previously and still have a soft spot for them, even if they weren't the best in class.
Guess I need to go to a Ford Show !.
Roll on the next BC

I was a little disappointed. The turn out wasn't as big as I thought it would be. Turned up at about 7:45am expecting a huge queue, but drove straight on to the track! I didn't feel snippy or vexed at the cars that turned up. Yes some weren't hot "hatches" but good lord, take a chill pill and just enjoy the cars there or just bore off if it bothers you that much. Yikes.
I did feel sorry for those b*ggers the marshals started filling up the track right just after Lavant Straight! "Allll byyyy mysellllllf...."

Cheers buddy just shows how rare good ones are hard to come by now! i didn't even see the saxos, where were you parked?
We were in the paddock closest to the skid pan area, near the group of 205's and the AE86 corolla. Seeing your car has made me determined to tidy up my engine bay, not sure I can stretch to bodies though lolGassing Station | Goodwood Events | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
