Please don't wear jeans. The dress code specifically asks attendees not to wear jeans. Jeans are not even warm.
I'm not wearing jeans! wearing chinos.

A great day out with good action on the track watching the F1 GTR spin at the chicane has to be a highlight - those guys were pushing. I was also special to see and hear the old F1 cars out on the track.

I agree it was cold we spent a fair part of the afternoon trying to get out of the wind, while still watching the cars. Make sure you are wind proof for tomorrow.

Incredible day. Utter respect for the Bugatti Type 35s (plus assorted stuff of the era), these things are almost 90 years old and absolutely fly round, no safety nets, brave gents at the wheel.

Superb spectacle, wonderful event.

Will dress warmer tomorrow!

Forget any thoughts of dress code, the wind chill tomorrow is +2c. eg freezing.
Many left early today as just so cold in the wind.
A good day, very quiet on the spectator banks.
What happened in the chicane in practice for Salvadori Cup with Jochen Mass and the Lister, Tony Wood?
It took forever to clear and then reduced the main race of the day to just 30 mins for 2 drivers, great shame but hope nobody was hurt.
Looking forward to tomorrow, must find the thermals!

Didn't enjoy myself today !

Get Real....It was pigging brilliant.

Best day ever.

More tomorrow.

Bloke standing near me said he thought the accident was the Lister's fault ,maybe a late change of direction for the pit

entrance and Mass couldn't do anything.

Could've been nasty.I heard it but was 20 yards from the track to not see it.

Absolutely bloody freezing, pulled out early I'm afraid. Dress code is warm. No blue jeans ideally but I did see one chap in shorts ......
I saw a bloke in a kilt,Scottish presumably.

I stayed till end of race 3,big shame it was cut 50% short but I'm guessing both a noise curfew to observe

and drivers had not practised in the dark.

It was tony woods a lister Jaguar but not sure on what happened. The Merc is front end damage and the Lister rear end.

A great day. Extremely cold so going to wear the jumper tomorrow.

Slightly disappointed by this years evening entertainment it didn't appear as though much was on and now the guilty pleasures stage was in the middle of a food hall so you had people wanting to watch music fighting for space with people wanting food!!! No entertainment in the great hall that I saw and the acts within the big top were not as good as last year.

And to top it off the fireworks started 10minutes early just as I was grabbing a quick warm drink and bite to eat.

But racing wise it was brilliant and the demo runs were superb so well done Goodwood on listening to the feedback.

As others have said wrap up warm, I adhered to the dress code with ski thermals as an underlayer and was still cold . We had a driver and resorted to a few nips of scotch as inner warmers, if you are considering the same take a hip flask as the scotch was " well priced "

Really enjoyable day, goodwood just do it well !!

Please if you don't want to adhere to the dress code be smart, saw the odd jeans and Motor sport top yesterday and they did look out of place

I think this was the accident you described, both drivers climbed out OK...

I might have been that bloke, I am convinced, the Lister was turning into the pits from outside the white pit line. We're all taught not to do that in our ARDS test, it's so basic. Even before Mass emerged from the chicane, I was asking myself what the lister was doing slowing so much on the racing line.
The eagle-eyed will notice that Mass hit the lister with the left hand front corner against the right rear of the Lister, tough to do unless the Lister was fully in the circuit. Had Mass been the wrong side of the line himself, his car could not have finished where it did.
Fair play to the Merc though, much less damage that the Lister which was destroyed, a beautiful car, I'm sure it'll be rebuilt in time for the Revival...... Deep pockets.
Otherwise a terrific days sport. It was so cold I watched the last race form the Shell "Goodwood Social Club" building; warmth, beer and motorsport, can't get much better that that!

Regarding the dress code, I was quite pleased to see quite a few people in jeans and still looking very smart in fact you could tell that these people had made a lot more effort than those who just threw on some cords, a shirt and a tweed jacket. I don't really see why "blue jeans" had been singled out as a no no. It was nice to see everybody dressed smart but I think this is what the code should be "smart".

I'm not really into the vintage stuff so with the exception of the Graham Hill Trophy (I think it was) with the Cobras, Mustangs, Stingrays etc. I found myself getting a little bored by lunchtime! I think also because it was so damn cold yesterday I didn't really want to just lounge around on the grass and soak up the atmosphere.

It was good to see all the McLaren F1s together but a shame only half made it out on track.

I don't think this event warrants the price tag on the tickets. I was fortunate in that I was given a ticket this year but in reality I wouldn't want to pay more than £20 for a ticket. However we all know Goodwood like to charge!!

The event is about old cars, the festival sounds like it's more your event

I believe sat sold out and sun maybe close so enough like it

If it's not your ideal event I'm glad you found some things to enjoy

As an aside I can't see why people spend a fortune every week to see 90 mins football, or hundreds to watch the procession known as F1 but many do and if that is what they prefer to do then why not

Agreed goodwoods prices are at times appearing lumpy but enough go to justify it ,

If Goodwood were to charge £20 you would not get half the cars or event as I doubt £20i would cover costs of staging the event.
I think the entrance cost are about right when you think that you can be there from 7.30am till 10 at night and compare that to going to a premier football match which would cost around £50 for one and a half hours I know what I would rather do.
The food costs are a bit high but similar to the British Grand Prix.
I had a great time yesterday but unfortunately cannot go today although I had a weekend ticket and Grandstand seat for today so am watching on web cast

The staging justifies some of the cost too, how many Motorsport events do you go to that have deckchairs set out (I'm sat in one now!), things like The Great Hall, Daffodil, Members Market etc, it's all beautifully put together and can't be cheap to do.

As an aside, amazing how utterly dead 90% of the circuit is, 18k of the 20k here must be within 100 yards of the paddock, yesterday was even quieter on the 4 laps of the circuit I walked, love it!

You're absolutely spot on Stuart, the FoS is much more my event and better value for money too. I can see why some people might like the MM, it's just not for me. I'd have have been upset if I'd have paid for the pass.

As for football I'd rather spend 90mins chewing my arms off!!

How is FOS better value for money?

It's £60 per day so £120 for 2 sat and Sunday and I can get sat and sun at the MM for £120. So both the same cost. I would say the MM offers a lot more action.
