So, have you guys calculated that you'll get payback against your fee (including 1st year's joing fee)or are you in it for the prestige?
Attending 2 reciprocal horse races, the moving motor show for 2, discounts over FOS and revival and your getting close to your membership then add in all the rest and in my eyes I've certainly got my money's worth. Split that joining fee over all the years I intend on being a member and I'm happy.

It's worth it for the Kennels alone. Peasant-free places are increasingly rare. Same with the GRRC enclosures.

?
Thats why you join the aero club to avoid the peasant tents and "enclosures" ! I have heard though that some people have to make do with only being allowed to join the golf club *shudder*!

Another newbie. I've been waiting for 3-4 years to join. It sounds like they have upped the number of spaces this year.

Hi
Just wondered do they only have one window each year that they issue membership renewals/requests or will they allocate another batch after December for those not renewed and help bring the waiting list time down for folk like me? 😃

Signed up at Supercar Sunday 2013...membership received today. Thats 1 1/2 years wait. Either lots of people have left, they have increased the numbers or I am privileged.....It is not the last one so must be the others.

For me the benefits far outweigh the cost. But each to their own. The thing is with the waiting list is I can imagine the ratio is quite low to people joining to people actually taking the membership. A lot of people sign up when they're interested a few years down the line a letter comes through saying would you like to join for £££ I can imagine a lot are then not interested or can't justify the cost.

Had my invite for membership through last week too, not the best of timing for me but the sacrifices will be worth it.

I signed up when the exclusive members only 72nd was first mentioned. Since it became open to all I didn't see the need. I can just about attend 3 days Fos for 2, and have a meal at the Hotel on Sunday night amongst some rather exclusive company and still have change.

Sorry to bump this but I thought I shouldn't make my own thread. I see from the opening post in this thread that renewal was just over £200 this year, but was that the same price for new members?

Also if I put my name down now, can I buy it for my Dad when a space becomes available?

You'll have a joining fee of around the same price when the time comes. Maybe register in his name but with your contact details?

Thanks. That could be the way to do it; I didn't think of that. I suppose the name is probably the one thing that isn't editable once the top of the waiting list is reached. But other things like addresses, emails, and phone numbers are.

I suspect that at some point the members meeting will be a little harder to get tickets for. Assuming it remains so, its a much smaller events than the others and as it gains in popularity I think there will be less need to open it up to so many - obviously I could be completely wrong or they might increase attendance numbers.

Either way I've been a member for a good few years and hope to remain so - for me its worth the price.

That's certainly the intention. I have had 3 weekend tickets for both members meets. Next year I'm currently at 5 possibly 7 tickets required if that's the same for all other members it could quite easily become the members only event they intend for it to be. Just takes a bit of time to cement itself in as a must attend event.
