No photos of the Copen then? I'm disappointed.
Just because it's not your or my cup of tea doesn't mean it should be dismissed.

Anyone who gets up sufficiently early on a Sunday morning to go to Goodwood is an enthusiast who should be welcome on this site. I wasn't particularly interested in the hundreds of MX-5s either - but others are, and these meetings always include a variety of cars not all of which will be of interest to everyone.
You're seriously defending the Daihatsu Copen as an enthusiast's car?
You didn't like it, move on. I too liked the Copen smile

I had a great morning I'm afraid. frown

Lovely trip down, great cars, nice atmosphere, lovely trip back.

My highlight would be the amazing blue X1/9 on the pit straight. 47000 miles on the clock and it looked like it had just come out of the showroom. Exceptional!

On the way down though I'm sure I saw an amazing Ferrari convoy in the Petersfield/Liss area. Definitely an F40 and a grey 458, also I think there was a 250GTB and there was a couple of others I didn't recognise including a dark red 60's convertible. They didn't show up at Goodwood though.

Anyone else spot them?

Why isn't it? I knew a chap who thought the CRX del sol was the ultimate car, likewise a chap who worships MG.

Just got back and welll.......What a load of bks.
Cars like those listed above are being declined whilst motoring blancmange like a run-of-the-mill Saab 93 cabriolet, and one that hasn't seen soap in a while, is let in. A Nissan Figaro? Wow, glad I made the journey. And what's this gem?.....oh, it's a Daihatsu Copen. Epic.
And someone really needs to read up on what constitutes a soft top.
A saloon with the sunroof glass panel removed does not count, and nor does a BMW with a folding HARD top.
So what if there were a few tin tops and pano roofs in the grounds. They got there early enough to steal a place from the lot behind who had a lie in. Your life goes on unaffected does it not?

I was a bit disappointed with the large sections set aside for dealers displays (BMW, Lotus). While there were some nice cars there I think most people want to see more unusual cars rather than what is available in a dealers.
And, at the end of the day the trade stands are paid stands and they are entitled to their share of the pie! If you don't like it, go elsewhere. We had loads of people enquire as to what our stand was promoting. The product the company supplies can be uses on soft tops too so we weren't taking the piss entirely! If you really want to moan, moan about the price of food and drinks at the circuit! Absolute rip off! And when i questioned the prices (£13.20 for a bacon and egg roll, a coke and a coffee) i was told 'it's Goodwood mate!!'. Ha!!

Van in gravel carpark under the tunnel, 500ml Diet Coke and a flapjack - £4.70. Was fairly surprised by that!

I thought the mix was ok. That's true no matter the theme.
Looking through the snaps. Not a lot of love for my little G33 and nothing in the Goodwood super gallery :-)

Any more pictures of this car chaps? A friend imported it recently from California. Grabbed this off the Flickr link posted earlier, thanks for them.

I would have said that anyone buying a car that makes absolutely no sense outside deepest, darkest Tokyo, takes the trouble to register it on Goodwood's website then gets up at the crack of dawn to show it off is an enthusiast; even if the car they are enthusiastic about does nothing for you.

Everyone displaying a 'mundane' soft top yesterday had taken the opportunity to park their car somewhere other than a field for probably the only time this year. Is that so bad? If Goodwood only displayed the really interesting stuff we'd be complaining about the fact that we'd seen everything before we'd finished our hideously expensive bacon bap.

I personally drove down in the wife's SLK (yes, it's got a folding hard top - luckily no kittens died as a result of this fragrant disregard for the rules)and had a really great morning out.

Personally my wife and I had a great morning out driving down from guildford roof down in the zed 4.
It never fails to amaze me how people criticise a free event and if you agree the catering prices don't suit why not pack a flask a couple of sandwiches or so as we do ?
Who could complain about that ?.

Mine was the poor E36 M3 just through gate 11 with the front wheel a little wonky!

Gutted first time ive had the pass to attend after 3 years of trying and 8 hours of detaling only for the top bolt on the hub to sheer leading to a mega wonky front wheel. Even more dissapointing was the people who could do nothing more than point and laugh when i had made the effort for them and the fact mine would have been the only E36 M3 there...

Hey ho - thank god it happened about 30 meters away from the entrance - had a fun drive on the country roads over there on the way over and god knows what would have been the result had it occured at full tilt!

New shocks and bolts are already inbound - fortunatly i seem to have got away with just that rather than what could have been a terrible day!

Gutted for you mate.
We walked past your car and discussed how few of those you see around these days. We also figured that it muat have happened as you were coming through the gate as there was no other damage on the car. Seems we were nearly right!
Hope you get it sorted soon.

I went down in a convoy with 5 other TVRs (epic noise through Hindhead tunnel). What a brilliant day and event ! far better than any Sunday Service. Great mix of car's there, everything from Ferrari Daytona's, Shelby Cobra's to Model T fords and Nissan Figaro's. As others have said if those people have registered their car's, got up early to go to Goodwood then why not they should be as welcome as you. After they may think whatever you drive in not interesting at all. As for the food I'm happy to pay a bit more, it's a free event after all. I think the people who didn't get accepted with soft top's was nothing to do with the car but the fact so many registered for the event. I can't wait for the next one !

Spotted that, wheel aside I thought that the car was pretty much mint.

Oh come one, you've got to see why people saw the funny side of this. The car looks like it's pissed and there's no damage! If it were a TVR people would all be saying how unreliable they are hehe
