Today I heard a rumour that The Vulcan, in it's final flying season will be appearing at this years Revival.

I checked, and it's true, it'll be there roaring it's afterburners on the Saturday.

I am, as they say, like Yay!!!!

Unlikely as she doesn't have afterburners, but it will be roaring!

Pedant! winkAlright then, roaring, with flames coming out of her arse. that's what I meant.
I don't know what time yet. I'll have to wait for the programme on the Friday, that's unless anyone on here knows?

BBC Radio Sussex keep saying that the Vulcan's last ever flight will be at this weekends Eastbourne Airshow.

gotta love the accuracy of the media

bournemouth say its the last ever appearance on the south coast ( well that depends if their display is before or after Shorehams on the same day) , and if you count Goodwood as the southcoast.

Have you ever seen a Vulcan flying? They don't have reheat/afterburners/flames out behind.

Such a shame that it's final days might be limited to flypasts, because of a kneejerk reaction.

I might just have been one of the last people to ever see it do a 'display', in that case biggrin

This was posted in the '558 thread by 'davepoth'

I heard Sir Gerald Howell MP (President of the British Air Display Association) on Radio 4 earlier specifically mention the Vulcan and explain that its display isn't considered high energy aerobatics and so would be able to do the full show going forwards

Excellent, just tried viewing the Vulcan website and received the following message...

...I say, excellent, as this shows just how much positively good publicity the Old Girl's received this year...and long may it last.

According to my FIL, reason for the end is that the airframe is good, but they need to make custom parts for the engines. This is now too expensive, so after this year it will be grounded at Robin Hood Airport and an engineering centre built around it to be used as the core of the showpiece.

Correct, it has been well publicised both online (including on PH) and within the national press.
