It really was an amazing event. Traffic queues were crazy but worth it in the end. Good job they delayed the start!
Took over 800 photos. A few here....

What a fantastic photo. SM520 turned right over usWent back to Goodwood to watch these beauties take off after seeing some of them at the revival. Does anyone know if all the aircraft that took off met up at any point before continuing on their routes over Southern England. There was a rumor going around that they were to meet up over Selsey Bill, anyone got picks of all the aircraft together ?
Surprised to see the American Dodge Weapons carrier and willys jeeps around the Spitfires for the Battle of Britain day....We were on our own during the Battle of Britain, America did not enter the war until 1941! Even with the lend lease deal, The Willys jeep and Dodge weapons carrier were first produced in 1941, Not 1940!
Just saying
Great pics chaps

the aircraft never meet up for one big fly over , each section once grouped up around goodwood then headed to selsey and then headed off to the planned route . the first section of the bbmf (8 planes ) was the largest group . I think a couple of smaller sections and couple of odd spits linked back up later into their route.with the weather window that opened on the 15th , we where all very lucky to see what we did !. maybe if the weather had played along all day , the big fly over may of happened .. guess we will never know
A day to remember .

Thanks for all your pics, guys. After an amazing weekend - when we did see a flypast of 12 together - and some interesting aerobatics on the Thursday - ahem - I was so looking forward to Tuesday and in spite of the traffic, just made it to the Trundle overlooking Goodwood only to be told of the two hour delay. I'm glad that that allowed some of you to see it but it meant I had to leave to get a flight myself. However, six planes flew over the house later in the afternoon. I don't think they ever did all get together. To do so, some would have had to wait for half an hour and probably would have needed to refuel soon after, so it was never a possibility. Thanks again for the great pics.
I went along to help out the Richard Burns Foundation collect on behalf of the RAF Benevolent fund, despite the cold, wind and rain the atmosphere was great, but what struck me was the generosity of the crowds.
I was due to man an exit gate from 12:30 for an hour, but given the take offs were delayed 2 hours decided to wander around the grandstands and try my luck by actually talking to people rather than rattling a bucket at them. After a couple of hours my bucket was quite light, not because people would not contribute but because the majority of people were putting £10 or £20 notes in, I also had a couple of people write cheques!
I received an eMail from the RBF event organiser this morning confirming that over we raised over £8,700 in public contributions from the crowd yesterday which is excellent!
As for the warbirds, the pictures above say it all, just a shame they don't come with sound!!!!
Did you know you could bump start a plane.......?

I believe that if the weather delay (or as we felt - a hold to get people in) hadn't happened, then there may have been time for a Balbo and then disperse. As it was, we got to see 34 aircraft 'together' and take in the sight and sound.with the weather window that opened on the 15th , we where all very lucky to see what we did !. maybe if the weather had played along all day , the big fly over may of happened .. guess we will never know
Here are a few of mine from the day.
No doubt the assembled crowds were captivated by the informative commentary which provided details of the various aircraft, their roles & the brave pilots who flew them - not.
Goodwood should be ashamed that the entire spectacle was allowed to proceed in silence except for the lovely sound of multiple Merlins. Maybe because the event was free then why waste the money or effort.
Noteworthy too was the ever present Goodwood class divide, GRRC members to the north, the tiresome riff-raff to the south, & the security staff imported.

Well as everyone is complaining that people are talking over the sound of the Merlins on the TV coverage then I'd say it was a good thing. Goodwood did not need to allow you on site for free they could quite easily have charged but for a free event so what. The fact that the GRRC had an enclosure already set up for the revival then it would seem an ideal opportunity to reuse it for those members. Not forgetting that planes go up into the sky which means they can be seen from anywhere.
I'm glad that you consider myself in the elite as I certainly enjoy sitting with a smile looking down on you tiresome riff-raff. I have spoken to Charlie to create an event where the disgusting looking creatures are not invited, he assures me the members meeting will hopefully keep them out.

What I did notice was that there were a lot of people walking in and no tickets were being checked but as it was a free event who cares, so pleased that so many turned up to enjoy it,
