The weather albeit ideal at the moment suggests it might be wet over the three day event .
Obviously we all hope not but previous experience reminds me to suggest a few extra brollies and change of footwear might be a recommendation .

Previous experience reminds me not to take any notice of the weather forecast until Thursday at the earliest.

..which kind of proves my point; if the forecast was any good you would only have to look at it once smile

I'll confess I do the same but by the end of the week I wonder why I had bothered. For the sake of experiment, here is the BBC forecast for Goodwood for the coming weekend, as of lunchtime today (Monday):

Dry and sunny on Friday but clouding over after lunch. Cloudy with showers on Sat and Sun.

Watch this space!

Bear in mind that the BBC use the Met Office forecast, and that the BBC have just terminated the Met Office contract because their forecasts are crap.
Norwegian forecaster www.yr.no tends to be pretty spot on.

Well to be fair the BBC say they have terminated the contract because the bid was too high. From what I've read, whoever gets it are likely to continue to use the Met Office data.

My issue is that it is not possible for anyone to forecast that far ahead with accuracy. So continuing my experiment, here is this morning's forecast from the BBC website:

Friday's max temperature is down a degree but the cloud is holding off for longer. Still looking showery on Sat and Sun.

We shall see!

Usually I go with the flat cap and tweed jacket ensemble but this year, anticipating some inclement weather, I an going with a motorcycle look in a Goodwood logoed Belstaff wax biker jacket, thin poloneck and some black jeans with boots. Cue 20 degrees and sunshine, it's ok i'll take the hit for the team this year! biggrin

Well done James!

I think it was last year or maybe the year before when the Friday FoS enjoyed a beautiful clear sky with lots of sunshine, but unfortunately the forecast had been for strong winds and thunderstorms so we all went dressed like the bloke on the Fisherman's Friend packet. The first aid posts dealt with a lot of sun stroke cases that day! There is a thread about it here somewhere.

Anyway, here is this morning's forecast for what it's worth. I still contend it's not worth much, compare today's forecast for Friday with yesterday's for example...

It seems we're going to be on the edge of a weather front, so hard to predict with accuracy.
Certainly looking better at the moment.
I'm glad though that we bought grandstand seats.

According to the BBC, today is going to be better than they said it was going to be yesterday.

Time to go out there and find out.
