You must have gone to a different event to the one I went to.

6 of us in 2 cars drove straight in without a single queue at 7.45am.

Had a bacon roll and a coffee 'over the road'.

Went in, mooched around the shopping bit.

Went and had a look around the paddocks.

Still not huge numbers of people.

Looked at the Spitfires.

Went to the Woodcote Grandstand. Watched the XK storm to victory in the Fordwater Trophy (although cheered for the little Lotus 6 that came in 4th).

Had a bottle of champagne on the grass.

Watched the bikes.

Fish and chips in the shade.

Watched "the greatest race in revival History". And utterly mesmerising performance from Frank Stippler…worth the ticket price alone.

Went up to the Lavant members area; Daytonas, drum-brked Ferrari race, vintage WW2 fighters, tea and scones.

Soaked up a few rays before calling it a day at about 5.

Drove straight out.

A near perfect late summer's day.
A very similar day to me & mr PN & we had the added joy of Mr B Gentlemen Ryhmer in the doom bar :-)Arrived 7.45 no issues getting in at all.
In terms of events I've recently been to (CLA Game Fair & Burghley) the organisation, "loo's" & facilities at Goodwoood way better IMO & same goes previous attendence at Silverstone Classic & LM & LM Classic...Goodwood far better

Yes its expensive & whilst it may not be as focused on racing as something like Silverstone or Old Timer GP as an event it's great fun & some wonderful machinery & racing

You don't enter, you are invited!

I guess it might be possible for the club to suggest some Imps when they have an anniversary but generally I believe that it's cars with period racing history that make it onto the list (or are owned/driven by someone famous).

A shoot out between Minis and Imps would be good seeing that Imp owners claim they are better than Minis smile
Yeah someone already said, thanks. I was just a bit surprised to not see any Imps there given that they were polular and competitive in the 60's saloon car scene.

Well that's a subjective argument isn't it wink

Went on the Saturday and enjoyed it. 30 of us went in our Masers and the highlight for me was the St Mary's trophy Part 1 with Stipler and Kristenssen, what a mad race and the Cortina's were quality too.

Shall be going back next year for sure. Dressing up is the best part of it for me and it is more about the get up than the cars.

Took us minutes to get into the car park at 9am, if you think Saturday was bad you should have tried getting in for the Battle of Britain memorial yesterday!!!!!!

3 Hours to get in You are having a laugh
We arrived at 8.30 on Friday and it is was doddle
Lucky you getting free tickets and moaning
We bought ours and had a great 2 Days Friday and Saturday
Only issue was the dim car park attendants who didnt know where people should park
Pretty much this for me ^

I arrived `late` on Friday (arond 8:30am ish) as the old girl doesn't like to sit in traffic at all. Plodded in and directed to the pre `66 parking.
Was there for the three days and thought it was great. To me, the crowds didn't seem quite as big as they did last year but i did notice that a couple of things had changed so may have helped disperse the crowds a bit? The `over the road` section was, as always, fantastic and it seemed that Goodwood had put a bit more effort into that area too.

Front row parking for yours truly smile ...

Regarding the Imp - As they were definitely running pre-1966 (Revival cut-off year) there is no classification (but maybe class) reason why they couldn't appear in 60s St Mary's races. However, as no one nobby/well-connected enough is currently running one we shall just have to wait. Provenance is clearly not an issue, as we saw from the most recent event in which the newly constructed Lotus Cortinas fared far better than the 'genuine' historic examples.

Enjoyed all three days, took motorhome & camped in comfort! Thought there were more people who hadn'y bothered to dress up & that's a shame IMHO, they ruined a few of my pictures! rolleyes
Over the road was way too busy & was surprised to be told that that area was free & didn't require a ticket!
Long waits for drinks, spent 15 minutes waiting in a scrum for a pint of £4.60 pint of doombar that was flat frown
However, the racing was great, especially the St Mary's saloons, impressed that the cortina's had non vented std discs with P16 calipers.
Campsite toilets & showers not as good as last year in E campsite. Would be interested to know if they had sold more tickets this year, certainly felt that way. Great event though thumbup

No real ales are meant to be flat! Doom Bar may not have the head that northern beers have, what with the soft water and Barnsley sparklers but flat? No way! beer

Went last year. Saw Babs, touched it. Thought I was in Heaven.......

This year went Friday, lunchtime on, took a picnic.
And Saturday. Lunch from Tesco, buy early.
And Sunday, ditto.

In the 'B' car park each day. Sunday right at the front by the Demondrome, even though we didn't get there until 0845h. Should have been earlier, our fault, but thought the traffic moved pretty well.

Had no end of bother putting together three nights' accommodation, plus tickets, as I was very late starting, but it was well worth the effort and cost, just wonderful.

OK the air display was feeble due to the overreaction to that accident, but the cars, the racing, the music, there was plenty to do and the crowds no worse, one just has to know where to go to avoid them. Over the bridge and through the tunnel were a bit slow, but they are pinch points so that's inevitable.

If the prices bother you, don't buy ices etc, or coffee or tea or beer. Take your own, or go without, you won't die.

There seemed to be a few more not dressed up, but to be fair the weather forecast was pretty dire.

I'll be there next year, three days. It costs more than two weeks' holiday in The Lakes, but I don't care.

On the other hand, FoS? Wouldn't give you two pennies for it. Overcrowded family fun day with lousy track viewing. Well, no pleasing everyone.

Echo all of that. Great weekend, picnic lunches from Tescos, a few ice creams, cups of tea etc. Easy access in and out of car park B, all three days. Some chap over on the Rubgy World cup thread had a ticket costing £215 for last night.

'Twas a damned shame that the Vulcan, who was in s hold pattern over Worthing Rugby club, had to hold back to allow the Spitfires etc who'd been flying pretty much all day to finish.
(Am I a bit churlish to say I'm getting a bit bored with endless Spitfires...??)
Oh and please lose the Settrington Cup for the kids and their pedal cars . Ever so slightly self indulgent for a certain group IMO.
Otherwise good fun as always - intrigued by those spectators snoozing in the sun during Saturday's St Mary's Trophy, what a fabulous race!
It was only supposed to be 2 aircraft before the Vulcan, then suddenly they were joined by the Curtis pair, the 2 extras were helping fill time while the Vulcan sorted its fuel issue.
The Vulcan went u/s and rtb which is why it didn't display at Goodwood (so close yet so far frown) and there was equally many thousands at Old Sarum that were as disappointed as well, as she was due to display there straight after Goodwood.

Air display was very gentle it would of been nice to of seen a tail chase or beat up of the airfield.
Sadly, the result of restrictions in place after the Shoreham crash, although, that type of display can't be a part of a Goodwood display because of the lack of a sterile crowd area even more so as a result of Shoreham.

Trophybloo said:
Faultless day of racing but my opinion is that accommodating the air displays just places too much restriction on spectating space and movement.
As above, post-Shoreham restrictions.....but I didn't think the additional restrictions made that much difference, but then, I think Revival as an event would be poorer without some sort of period aerial action during the day, it's part of the event and the history of the theme of the event. People don't come to Revival because of the flying, as it's too limited, just as if all your interested in is watching the racing there are probably better events to go to.
