The British GP is now on the 10th July, with the Austrian race on 3rd July. I wonder if Goodwood will go for the 17th, but that's only 10 days before Glorious Goodwood or go back to a late June date
I would imagine the closer they can get to other Goodwood events the better, saves moving all the infrastructure too far!
I'd have thought the reverse would be true: if they were doing posh entertaining at the house for horse racing guests then the last thing they'd want spoiling the view would be a building site of partially disassembled stands from the FoS

Excellent, at least we can pen it in our diaries.

Any idea of rough ticket prices, based on last year?

I'm trying to gather a group to go down for the weekend so an idea of numbers would help prior to ticket ordering..

Yes around £200 for camping IIRC plus £150 for a 4 day ticket.

What's camping like? Are there things going on at night and is there a decent pub nearby?

The event closes at 7 and no evening entertainment although the Goodwood hotel does have live music and a bar.

Morning chaps.

Doing Friday/sat/sun this year. Due to the costs I'm ordering the full weekend pack but have no requirement for the Thursday ticket - are these of use to anyone?

Lord March, the host of both events, said: “The theme for the 2016 Festival of Speed enables us to gather together some of the most spectacular machines from his history of motorsport, many of which will never have been in this country before.

"From turbocharged Formula 1 cars and ‘unrideable’ grand prix bikes of the 1980s, to Can-Am specials of a generation earlier, and even dragsters and Land Speed Record cars, the Festival of Speed will be a very special event."

Can anyone help me out with the following:

1. Can you 'camp' onsite in your own van (Mercedes Vito)? Rather than a tent or motorhome?

2. Can we arrive on the Saturday morning to camp for one night (tickets for the Saturday and Sunday)?

I am booking these as a surprise for my boyfriend's 30th and want to organise it without him knowing, but unsure about the logistics. We will be travelling from Scotland and would drive down the early hours of Saturday morning to arrive and pitch the 'camp' (van).

Any advice would be hugely appreciated... from a non-motor-savvy girl! smile

Possibly as they do allow motorhomes so your Vito wouldn't be excessive size wise - https://ticketing.goodwood.com/PagesPublic/Product...
Call the office to confirm availability 01243 755055

Probably but office will confirm for you

I'd drive down to arrive Friday night if you can and book a pitch within 10-15 miles of Goodwood as the queues start at silly o'clock each day of the festival.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated... from a non-motor-savvy girl! smile

Goodwood don't need to give out discount codes as the event always sells out. They've even stopped doing the local newspaper offers last year IIRC

1, you can camp but require a camping ticket non electric is £170

2, I get absolutely shattered from being at the event for 12 hours without even thinking of a drive from Scotland, I can't imagine what the return journey would be like.

When you say early hours you want to be arriving around 7-8am after that you could be in a traffic jam for quite a few hours.
