Yes, Karsten Le Blanc. He posted on social media last night that he had a few bruises but was otherwise ok.

Edited to avoid press confussion!

I also witnessed the single seater accident this morning, horrible to see but glad to hear the driver is not seriously injured. Amazing no one was killed. The Lola in this afternoons accident is probably the worst i've ever seen a race car after an accident, hopefully the driver isn't seriously injured and makes a full recovery. For me today wasn't very enjoyable, all the stoppages and knowing people have been injured just overshadowed the day.

This shows the severity of the impact

Regards,
Matt
Agreed. Today really wasn't enjoyable and sadly out of the organisers hands.
Think someone might have already posted this, but latest from Goodwood is that the driver of the Lola is in a stable condition in hospital alongside his family

ecsrobin, do you mind if we use your picture for the paper? We always try to be sensitive, especially when it's a crash and the exact condition of the people involved isn't known, so wouldn't use it until we've had another update on how he is. Thanks

Hi,
If you are talking about the picture you quoted then that's a picture i took? I stupidly put it up before finding out more about Michiels condition so removed the original picture from my post after a fellow forum user suggested so. Hopefully we get some positive news soon...

Matt

Yes, that was the picture I was meaning. If you're OK with us using it could you email it to news@chiobserver.co.uk

Again it's not something I'd use online or in the paper before we are fairly sure the driver is OK. Did I see someone mention something about him posting on social media?

What happened on the hill on Saturday night. There was a load of debris and one of the drivers from the Kennels told me it was fatal.

Dear fans,

I'd like to update you about the driver from the Lola T70 in car number #2 which crashed yesterday during the Bruce McLaren Trophy at the 74th MM at Goodwood. He is my dad and in consultation with other family members we decided to give you some information. He is a bit shaken and bruised, but conscious. Apart from the abrasions and cuts he has broken a rib and two vertebrae. The good thing is that there isn't any damage to the spinal cord. Let's hope he'll recover soon!

If there is anyone who has some more information, video's or other imagery please contact me at samvanderwerff@hotmail.com
This would be really valuable for us.

Thank you so much for your support and information.

Kind regards,

Sam van der Werff

If you meant the hill coming down from the racecourse towards the house, I noticed a lot of concrete dust and debris lying in the verges.

Sam, that's amazing news. Like so many others I feared bad news and you've made my day telling me that.

I was stood on the exit of Woodcote and watched the accident. I'll drop you an email.

Wish your dad a speedy return to full health and back to racing.

Sam, that's fantastic news. Thanks for taking the time to update us.

I wasn't there on Sunday so can't help with any details I'm afraid, but all the best to your father for a speedy recovery.

Yep. 200m down the hill from the racecourse on the Goodwood side of the hill.

There was a big accident there on Saturday night. That route was closed and a couple of fire engines were going in that direction when we were leaving the circuit at approx 19:30ish (did not look too closely at my watch!)
