Hopefully the damage to the P1 GTR was slight and will be a speedy fix. It was an awful noise - made me wince.
No damage thankfully, don't think I will rely on guidance from Marshall again.I did find myself raising an eyebrow at the complete lack of crowd control when you guys turned up. The cars were somewhat swamped leaving none of you sufficient room on the tarmac to manoeuvre with any safety. Add to that the combination of too many cooks when reversing...
Have a pic of your lad looking chilled as a way of cheering you up :

Half the number of cars on the straight and much less further down, I asked the marshall what the reason was and he said it wasn't anything to do with them, just a lot of people hadn't turned up. Very odd. Astounded how popular Shmee is, people cheering when he got out of the car, the power of the interweb.
Enjoyed the run back with the MP4-12C, 911 & 2 Astons through the Hindhead tunnel

...I do think people on the grid should have to stay for a until a certain point , you just end up with lots of spaces as everyone starts to bugger off at 9
It wasn't that they'd buggered off, it was that they either didn't turn up or not enough passes had been allocated. I was there first thing and the spaces nearest the score board weren't occupied at all for most of the morning (and in the past they have started to fill them up from that end). Then, as others have said, when cars did arrive it was rammed with people and not easy to manoeuvre them into position. I assuem this was a new paln by Goodwood and to my mind it didn't work in several respects and I hope they review and come to the same conclusion.Jonathan

To me the likes of shmee have ruined events like this. It was the same at the Saywell track day this year lots of kids dropped off by mum running around with go pros and rode microphones, I'll stick to classic events in future. I know what you mean. Goodwood events seem to have lost their appeal to me, perhaps they've become too big for their own good? My first breakfast meet was about 10 years ago, much smaller, just turn up, move around and talk to fellow enthusiasts and owners and have a good time. Victim of its own success. So whats the next up and coming event that's below the radar that we enthusiasts can enjoy before it gets mobbed?

Amazed, that looks really shoddy. The alcantara (or whatever) is all dimpled over the dash top and the panel looks really cheap. If someone said that's a Lotus or TVR everyone would cracking "they're only kit car" jokes! ecsrobin said:

Rather amusingly, my friend was wandering along saying exactly the same, ie Shmee is a cretin, who clearly only appeals to those who know approx zero about cars, when who should walk pretty much into us I enjoyed the cars, well the older ones that nobody seemed to be noticing (Integrale/Nobles/Cuda/F40's), but could happily go without Shmee, people taking photos/videos with iPads and the large lass wearing lycra that was being photo'd on front of the cars. The roundabout as we were leaving did however remind me of Mad Friday at Le Mans

... yeh, thought the gatherings on the roundabout were a bit weird... why not just go into the circuit ??
Is shmee a cretin or not then ?? whats the conclusion ?

In my view - sure he can afford to buy expensive cars and no doubt worked hard to get his youtube and other ventures into the position they are today - for that I say fair play. But his video about the Pistonheads meet in Dec at Goodwood just called out that the cars on show were nothing special and where were the super cars. Not because I'm a protective member of Pistonheads or anything but that event for me was perfect - all the cars from the VW 1.0l Polo to the far more expensive machinery was proudly on display by their owners each one cherished no less than the other irrelevant of value.
Just because I don't have £M's and Mummy and Daddy cant help me doesn't mean that my E36 M3 is any less special to me and to probably a number of other people - it tends to be the only one or one of very few at the events I do go to - so it isn't worth a lot but its quite rare.
That video calling out what we a genuine car fan event as disappointing, as well as the way he presents (like a c@ked up 12 year old) put me off enough to judge him as a cretin!

Yes, agree 100%Just because I don't have £M's and Mummy and Daddy cant help me doesn't mean that my E36 M3 is any less special to me and to probably a number of other people - it tends to be the only one or one of very few at the events I do go to - so it isn't worth a lot but its quite rare.
And as for Shmee, it had a feel of The Only Way Is Essex about it (or so my missus thought!)
I am uploading my photos from yesterday, as we speak (Monday afternoon).

That's exactly how Soft Top Sunday was last month. I never bother with the supercar one because they don't interest me much. Excuse for arty shot from last month
As for Schmee, I have no idea who he is, therefore I googled him. Seems like he made his own money, fair play to him but his tastes aren't my cup of tea.
