First post on here - hello! As a local to Goodwood but first time of actually going this year to FOS, firstly thanks for such great threads full of advice re days/what to expect.

Anyway, just a heads up for those driving to FoS and/or wondering about footwear, the state of the exhibitors' car park is already churned up with liquid mud on top in parts. If any more rain comes (and we all know Goodwood has its own micro climate) it won't take much for everywhere else to go a bit squelchy.

Hopefully it won't but thought I'd pass it on anyway smile

Thanks too.

Any idea what the campsite is like?

TVR or defender ground conditions?

I've not seen the campsite, sorry smile

Though these two photos will show you it's not going to take much to turn grass to mud:

apart from a few thunderous downpours on thursday I *think* it should be fairly dry! so by the weekend all should be not too muddy!

I'm going tomorrow and heavy rain is forecast, now a little worried that I may get stuck in the mud due to having the worst combo for traction, rwd with low profile semi slicks frown

In previous years have people got stuck?

Hello & welcome to PH. Thanks for a useful post and thanks to all contributing to the build-up to FOS threads - they are much appreciated as we all worry about the same things! Unfortunately the biggest of those things is the weather and there's no controlling that but at least we can go prepared!

I've been to Goodwood four times now, and every year its been red hot.

I'm there on Friday, its going to be a shock if its wet!

Bah, I was looking forward to parking in the performance car area on Saturday but looks like I will go in the 4x4 now and park with the masses.

Grateful for some updates before the weekend, thanks.

Have just arrived in campsite H and have to say that, although wet, the ground conditions are initially much better than I had anticipated. The roadways are a bit muddy, and will doubtless be worse by Sunday, but based on what we've seen so far it's unlikely I'll need or use the wellies! I might get the walking boots out however. (All this assumes no more significant rain of course!)

Quite a bit of rain is forecast overnight and on and off during tomorrow. Friday onwards is looking ok at the moment.

And as a PS to my post above, although overcast and with a slight breeze blowing, it's just got quite warm and very muggy. Just had a leisurely stroll up to the hotel and back, and worked up quite a sweat. Light and probably waterproof clothing required.

Afternoon matey, I've had a look but struggling to find a thread right now (away on work) around the performance parking? Bit late in the day I appreciate, but I am taking my Ultima along now and wondered if there was a means to contact someone about this? I'd appreciate any information as to whom to contact smile

There is some supercar parking; ticketed separately and sold out when I checked yesterday. Advice on the website appears to be don't take anything which has very little clearance - 458/ cayman/ 911/ various TVR seemed to be ok in the carpark I was in last year.

Lovely bright evening at Goodwood. Sat in the Goodwood Hotel, supping Goodwood ale, and all is well with the world - conditions are good wink
