Anyone know if the kinrara parking ( or getting in and out of it ) is that bad ? I have the sports suspension and n400 side sills on my V8V so it's pretty low. As per another post its in at Harwoods for a service Tuesday so it'll get a nice wash but I shudder at the thought of it being dragged out of Goodwood by a tractor. Got my old 335i msport convertable stuck a few years back ( when Kinrara parking was car park 1 with all the contractors trucks - wasn't ideal ) Weather doesn't look good for tomorrow. Guess I'll take the Landy. frown

not bad at all on Friday, you will have muddy tyres, but all good on Friday for getting in and out, excellent courier service from K to Gate 1 and backNDA said:
Around midday yesterday
To be fair that is about as bad as it is currently. That said with the rain from lunchtime that is forecast it will deteriorate quickly.Worst part for us yesterday was being directed to take a run up across 15 foot of deep mud from the main through road by a Marshall. Exact words were floor it in second iirc. Hardly sensible as many behind us got stuck, and the ground was then churned up for everyone else. And deeply rutted.
Oh and to the BMW X5 that decided they wouldn't wait just a second whilst I was getting directions from the Marshall and decided because they had a 4x4 they could off road, I'm glad you made it to the parking space 5seconds ahead of us, I hope it made your day.
After attending a few occasionally wet FoS in years gone by I now keep an eye on the weather forecast and keep spare shoes, wellingtons, jeans and waterproofs in the boot. Exhibitors just accept that mud on their nice clean floors is an occupational hazard and they do their best to swab the decks. Dodging the churned up mud didn't spoil my enjoyment of the event as I walked around. Coffee and refreshments courtesy of BMW and Vauxhall helped keep the energy levels up.
Car park 'M' on Thursday was ok but catching out a few on the way out up the wet grassy slope to the exit. The traction control button on my BMW wasn't needed this time as I had enough room to drive round someone else whose Beemer came to a halt ahead of me on the way up to the exit.
Friday in car park 'P' there were no Row markers and unless you were parked very early or handy to a tree or some other reference point it you needed a good 1. Memory 2. sense of direction, 3. and remember what time you arrived to avoid wandering around like a lost soul searching the ocean of German black grey and silver machinery. Car park staff and Goodwood Estate vehicles were kept busy reuniting owners with their 'lost' vehicles. Photo facility on iPhone very handy.
Getting away from Goodwood wasn't too bad and just needed patience. Always interesting vehicles in the queue to admire - full marks to the man in the vintage 3 Litre Bentley, and the Black 60s Plymouth Road Runner burbling away. Highlight on Friday morning of a car spotter's day was seeing the extremely rare gold Lagonda Taraf parked near the Kennels...
No Pagani among the Supercars this time...?

I dunno, that could be an inspired choice of footwear. A free pedicure that requires nothing more than a quick session with the hosepipe by the back door when you get home.
Trench foot aside, of course.
I've been for the 3 days every year for the last 15 (barring my honeymoon) and have worn flipflops every time. Plenty of standpipes by all loos to wash off wet mud and feet dry quicker than shoes. Trench foot aside, of course.
Staggered at the number of women in heels/wedges tottering through inch thick gloop.
In all seriousness, by 7.30 when we left yesterday the paths had dried out and the metal boarding had pretty much cleared. Isolated boggy bits but avoidable. Route into the venue on foot from the A27 car parks may still be interesting.
Boxster was slippy but left as clean as it arrived and no dramas.
Hoping for no rain today.

Just got back home from Goodwood. Took 3 hours to get there - 35 minutes to get back. Yes it was wet and muddy but I still enjoyed the day. The Performance Car Park for anyone that is interested was absolutely fine and I had no problems getting in or out despite the fact that M5s and wet grass don't mix....
Can't believe the number of people I saw wearing inappropriate footwear - flip flops, strappy sandals and high heels to mention a few I saw. Not surprised to see some people covered in mud for the same reason.
Wellies or walking boots definitely required....

On balance if probably rather bring a 4x4 tomorrow.
But I've paid for a space in the Performance car park and had to state the car I was bringing in order to 'qualify'.
So, I'm hoping the weather takes it easy overnight.
I've done the same, under the circumstances don't you think they will allow you to bring your 4x4. Did speak to them and there are metal runners from the entrance to the car spaces But I've paid for a space in the Performance car park and had to state the car I was bringing in order to 'qualify'.

The kinrara car park was ok, but getting out of it is a bit tricky. I am very glad I left the Aston at home and took the Landy. People were being pushed out all over the place. If you have the option I'd stick with 4 wheel drive. You may be lucky but it's not really worth the chance. And take wellies or hiking boots, you will definitely need them.
One last word of warning, the rozzers where we're sitting just after the Badgers pub if you are heading toward Petworth. They may be there again tomorrow. I "Think" ( read hope ) it's a 40 limit. If it was 30 I may be in trouble....
