Just by the Kennels, bad crash bike/car. Traffic chaos coming in from the horse race course.

Yep. Been stuck for ages. Everything gridlocked. 2 hours 30 mins so far still 4 miles to go.

Traffic is solid from just a little south of Midhurst all the way in, and from just south of Petworth too...

It seems that a line of traffic heading north past the Kennels were being directed by marshalls to make the sharp right turn in towards the car parks. Motorcyclist travelling at high speed overtaking the line of traffic drove into the side of an Audi that was turning right.
Air ambulance attended and the rider was taken to Southampton hospital.

Just as well I didn't have a moan somewhere else about that road being closed then.

We'd left home at about 6am, and made decent time all the way to the racecourse. One marshal with a 'road closed' sign was being kept busy by dozens of idiots rolling up and (presumably) asking why/demanding to be let past, only to be met with the same response, an extended arm pointing away to our left.

It added 20 to 30 minutes to our journey, getting across past the racecourse and down t'other road to car park M, but I can easily see how the delay would be compounded if you arrived a little later.

We've always parked in that first car park beyond the supercar parking field when travelling from home, and I have to say I was concerned about getting out of car park M given the weather on Saturday, but in the end all was good and I managed to get up the greasy hill to the exit despite others failing to get up the slope.

Sad to hear that a biker was injured, but it just goes to show that, despite often feeling that you could do a better job of it, you should always obey the signs and the directions of the parking marshals at events like this.

I saw a Vauxhall Zafira and motorbike being taken away on the back of a flatbed recovery truck. Looked like the bike had gone straight into the middle (front) of the car. Looked horrific and must have been a fairly high speed accident.

I don't really want to comment, other than to say that I just took a call from a colleague and it looks like I knew the biker involved and he is in a bad way.

I will update when appropriate and have some concrete details. But sincerely wishes he recovers frown

Any updates on the biker ? I guess the incident will require a traffic management rethink for future Goodwood events ?.

Bikers fault by the sound of it so I can't see why they'd need a rethink based on this incident?
