Hi,

Going this year, has anyone been?... Any good? Just wondering if we need tickets or can you watch from various places round the ring.

12-14th August 2016 @ The Nurburgring - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30h3oegoq1M

If anyone is going, feel free to get in touch for meeting up/drinks

Thanks

Jon

Yep we are going, never been before so looking forward to it, we are going over on the Thursday and staying in a hotel about 15 miles away, bought the tickets, managed to get Porsche hospitality tickets as well which covers any parking issues that might occur.

I'm going , been a couple of times and it was ok , I believe there is a race on the the nordschliffe on Friday afternoon .
There's public lapping on Saturday and Sunday between 1 and 7pm both days , I'll be in a mineral grey 340i touring , if the weathers ok I'll probably do a few laps , I'll probably be alone in the car as my mate won't do passenger laps with anyone so your welcome to jump in if you see me .

I'll be there in my Irish Regd Cayenne Diesel. One change this year is that there's no racing on the Northschleife on hte Friday as usual, big pity. It's replaced with Tourist Laps !!

Easy to buy tickets at the gate. Parking is extra.

Be careful who you let sit in the car, I accepted a generous offer of a lap from a hot TVR in the pits, only to leave my lunch in the footwell - ultra embarrassing eek

I was looking on b2g earlier and it indicates there is racing on the old track and no tourist laps on Friday , is it definitely replaced with tourist laps ?
I was looking forward to seeing the older cars on the nordschliffe .
Long range weather forecast looks a bit rubbish , may end up drinking beer in Adenau instead of watching on Sunday !

Veering off topic a little.

A random Brit asked to jump into my spare front seat of my Escort Cosworth, think it was 2009.

I bet he was really underwhelmed with my ability.

If you look up the Nurburgring.com site there's a schedule and somewhere it says " we've replaced the Friday Endurance Race on the Nordschleiffe with Laps. Terrible pity, as for me this was the highlight. I wonder why, money I suppose though the paddock was a trife full on Fridays.

If anyone needs local accommodation we have used the nearby centre Parcs eifell cheap and around 15 min drive to track.

Took the caravan to WEC as spa 24 the following weekend and hotels for the trip would have blown the budget.

Next year Center Parcs again.

I'll be there.

Staying at the Wilhelmshohe out in Auderath.

Look out for a silver 355 with a black C4S.

We have stayed in the same hotel for the past 12 or so years 5 mins down from the track in oberbaar , unfortunately the owner and personal friend died last year and although his widow has kept the place open I'm not sure if she takes guests she doesn't know .
At least the weather forecast looks a lot better now for Saturday and Sunday .

We'll not miss that ! I was a tvr man myself . ending up with a Griffith 500 , but lack of garage dictates German cars these days .
I'll keep my eyes open for the cars mentioned , no point ignoring each other guys ? Although given the other cars you guys are taking I'll have to drive around sounding the horn to attract the same attention

Great weekend, some fabulous cars and racing, marred only by my 355 deciding it didn't like its idle control valve any more and constantly having the engine jumping to 4500 rpm, to the point that the brakes finally cooked themselves somewhere south of Spa. Its still in Belgium somewhere awaiting recovery.

Did anyone see the Kaege 911? Stunning thing.

And here

Reminds me of a Singer, I was surprised Porsche allowed it park near their Tent, they are usually " funny" about cars like that.

Had a great weekend, weather was great after the Friday.
My first time I was impressed, well organised, good racing, plenty of stands and shops, and masses of cars to look at.
If you have not been it's a great break from Le Mans and cleaner!

I spent a while drooling over that in Adenau , it really was fantastic .
Did anyone bother doing any public laps , I took one look at the queue and lost interest , I didn't even empty my gear out of the boot . I did watch some of the public laps , the standard of driving and aggression is noticeably worse year on year at the weekends , when the track is actually open due to the number of crashes .
The guy drifting his million pound gull wing Mercedes was a sight to behold on the old track on Friday , it seemed to be a millionaires track day that replaced the Friday race on the nordschliffe .
