Advice on how to best do FOS...

I am looking to go next year with my wife and 3 year old and would like the event to be as stress free as possible in terms of nice accommodation, easy parking etc...

This will be my first time going so wondered if anyone can offer any advice?

Why not take the 3 year old? I have been looking st the hospitality options and they seem appealing.

I took my 2 year old for his first FoS this year. He loved it. I would advise getting your 3 year old some ear protection before you go as some of those cars and bikes can get LOUD !!!

Thanks, she loves the car shows she had been to so far. We do have ear defenders so that's a good shout. The benefit of the hospitality seems to be priority parking, good places to view the racing from, food etc all day long and a quiet area to retreat to if needed.

Anyone done hospitality? Is it worth it?

Only two hours away so may do it in a day.

Big crowds, loud noises and generally a hot and very dusty environment it's tough enough without lugging a small child around.

As for hospitality that's certainly a pricey way to do it although if you're prepared to pay the price (I believe the starting price is £360+vat upto £900+vat PP per day) then I highly recommend it, I've only been looked after at the revival but I imagine it's to the same high standard, but there really is so much to see and do that you may not get your money's worth.

As has been said above you need to be booking accommodation now if you are planning on staying in the area.

I should add I'm not trying to put you off the event I just think as a first time it may be worth a trip on your own to get the most of it and establish if it's suitable. The FOS is a great show and you'll want to attend year after year.

I've just noted you may drive down aim to be there for 7-8am any later and you'll be stuck in traffic for a few hours. Plan to leave around 7pm.

Saturday sells out first around April/may time although I prefer Sunday as it has the shootout in the afternoon.

Thanks for the advice so far. Arriving early and leaving a bit later won't be a massive issue as she will be 2 months under 4 so closer to 4 really. It's the 360 one I am considering as she won't want a sit down meal... Lol...what's he best day to go? Is the parking all grass? I saw the issues this year caused by the rain.

Check for minimum age in hospitality, I think there may be restrictions

The one I am looking at allows children and they are free under 4 which is a bonus.

This hospitality thing I find a conundrum - Goodwood charges an arm and a leg for it, so if there are 2 adults plus kids it's going to cost big. So you feel you should spend a lot of time there making the most of it.
BUT .....
FOS and Revival are all about the show, there is SO much to see and do, you don't want to spend all that time in hospitality as you'll miss so much.

OP,

You used the term "racing" earlier. You probably know, but just in case: there's no racing. It's cars and bikes being shown off in an exuberant way. If you plan well and are lucky, you'll see the cars you want to see on the hill, but they might not be going quickly. You might see the celebrities/drivers you want to see, but you might not. One day really isn't enough to see anywhere near everything and everyone.

I've done about five FoS, three Revivals and one Members Meeting. It's safe to say I'm not bothering with any for quite a while, but I highly recommend any motoring enthusiast goes at least once. Good luck with the weather, and just go with the flow.
