Just to say I'm glad the Over the Road stuff is for ticket holders now. Should always have been the case but obviously chatter on Pistonheads etc. gave people the idea of just browsing round the car park. All in all a good change.
I wonder why they didn't go the whole hog & have the scanning points at the entrances to OTR. Was a bit of a pfaff showing the tickets twice.

Agreed. On Friday I'd left my ticket in my locker at the GRRC tent so I had to go back under the circuit to then retrieve it.

Over the Road

Don't be fooled into thinking all the fun takes place within the Motor Circuit. Cross the bridge taking you - literally - Over the Road and you open the door to a whole world of jollity. Please note that you do need a Revival ticket to visit Over the Road.
Been to EVERY 'over the road' & NEVER had to show a ticket.
You did this weekend. I certainly got checked multiple times.
I most certainly did not. At noon on Friday I was checked out of the circuit area via the exit opposite the main entrance to 'across the road', went to my car in the car park adjacent to change into something cooler & then wandered straight into 'across the road'. Lots of people milling about the entrance near the Bonhams display but nobody was checking tickets.

I think it was too difficult to police effectively, I wasn't checked but many around me were I noted later as I wandered round that it would have been easy to get from the display parking into the other over the road part, at most there was a low picket fence.

Bit of a schoolboy error for an old campaigner like you Robin!

Whether you did or did not is kind of irrelevant (unless you just want an argument) the fact is that Goodwood are trying to restrict the Over the Road area to paying spectators which can only be a good thing.

That entrance was manic when I went trough it Friday pm, I got checked and my mate didn't, thought it was a bit of a nightmare and wondered why they didn't have a proper entrance/exit in operation but then I suppose people would moan about that too!

Indeed it was, to be fair I had assumed that the ticket scanning would now be done at the entrances to over the road rather than the bridge, you know what they say about assumptions!

The only issue we encountered was utter crap signage to Car Park B. We went into A to be told 'go to the end and they'll tell you where it is' - we get to the end and this Numpty says go up the road so we go up the road to the roundabout and ask again they say go down another road and so we do and get to Car Park A entrance again! So we go through it all again and back to Numpty who says go up the road..

I say NO. Its not up the road its over there.

He says hes been told its up the road.

I say NO. It fking isnt. Car Park B is behind you you tosser.

He stands in the way so I just drive forward he gets out of the way I drive past with a cursory 'wker' in his direction and lo and behold we got immediately into Car Park B

So my point is that Godwood really need to read this and publish a map for all people arriving in cars so they know where to go. Plus good signage on site.

You know all those big yellow signs at the side of the approach roads with 'B' labels on .... wink

Seemed to work perfectly for me, and hundreds of others. smile

There weren't any signs at all on the car park A entrance as approached from Goodwood Race Course that's for sure

After the Race Course you should have turned left - at the top of Kennel Hill (the road to Petworth) - and then right down East Dean Hill. It was sign posted Car Park B every morning I went past.

This. It was my first time parking in car park B, and I simply followed the signs. I too came in from the racecourse, and as Ian says turned left (as signposted) just after the racecourse.

Exactly, anyone who barrelled on down the hill past the big sign saying Car Park B must have missed it hehe
