Three best and worst of the weekend:

Best: Kinrara Trophy race, Barry Sheen races, aircraft displays (both static and flying)

Worst: All the 66' football stuff including the dull track parade, the St Mary's races and the weather on Saturday!

I was really disappointed with the St Mary's, in the past we have been treated to some epic battles from mixed grids, I just don't think one make racing works for historics. In both races once the field got strung out they really were very dull.

No England fan in 1966 wore scarves and certainly not in red and white.
England fans on the way to Wembley in 1966, Person on the left wink

Well scoured! Probably a Liverpudlian or Man U supporter. Overwhelmingly supporter scarf-less otherwise!!..and overwhelmingly male ;-)

I thought it was excellent. The first time I have been to the Revival on my own, without the mrs in tow, and to be able to do as I pleased, along with the fantastic weather helped a lot too.
I just love the little attention to detail, like the St Trinians girls wandering round causing mayhem.
Funniest moment of the day was seeing a person dressed as an RAF officer leaving the paddock who turned out to be German! 10/10 for sense of humour!

best commentary quote of the weekend was...

"you might say you were the meat in a girl sandwich"

small boy - "well, i suppose I was!"

... at the end of the Settrington Cup...

hehe

To be honest, only being 27 myself I typed in Google England 66 fans" for curiosity as its something I've never looked at myself (the fans not the match) and it was 3rd or 4th picture that came up.

Agreed.

Completely kills what is usually one of the highlight races at the Revival mad

One make series like this are ok, and certainly on Sunday, the dice between the leading cars was entertaining, but I really missed the "David and Goliath" battles of previous St Mary's Trophy races.

But why not do both?

I've never been to the revival, (I have seen it on the live streams but they mainly show just the racing) and while its nice to see some racing I think I would be more interested in the pit activity and trade stalls and soaking up the atmosphere.
Does anyone have any pictures of the "over the road bit" I would like to see what im missing. What time does it close in the evening or does it run through the night too?
Do people camp on site if staying for two or more days or get hotels in the area?

Because they had to fit in the Settrington Cup and the irrelevant Wembley stuff?

The track parades aren't a bad thing it gives people time to have a break, I didn't hear people complaining when it was a WW2 track parade the other year.

I seem to recall a sign saying the "Over the Road" shut at 10.30.
Yes, there is camping.

But there's no reason to parade such naff and irelevent things such as the Settrington Cup, Laurel and Hardy lookalikes, and two men in overalls pedalling furiously whilst wobbling around the track on old bicycycles rolleyes.

But for some people that is their entertainment. The ladies in our party loved the settrington cup much to my annoyance.

Sadly the Revival is becoming tired to those that have a few times.
It's best to move on, there are plenty of other events that offer more racing and cost less.

There are 2 choices for camping, electrical and non electrical. Lots of motor homes and tents, also all the hotels sell out and increase prices as soon as the dates are known.

Over the road the last act is at 2200 and then shut up by 2230

Camping is usually great at the Revival - but one very unpleasant event occured this year: We were on campsite E when during the night from saturday to sunday a bunch of thieves came to the campsite and robbed many people of their money while they were sleeping. There were tents and motorhomes opened and wallets stolen when people were in there sleeping. Very bad, never thought something like that would happen there. They only took cash and disposed of the wallets later, so at least many documents and even credit cards could be retrieved. But there was a massive queue at the security office sunday morning reporting the crimes. Absolutely disgusting...

That's a shame, I saw on the news that also happened at bestival so sounds like organised gangs have attended the area.

Couldn't agree more but I would not like to have the responsibility of creating something new every year. Lord March 'claimed' in a TV interview that the FoS & Revival have just brought the estate into profit, his Dad more interested in the gee gees than the vulgar making of money.
Now far too crowded & within 4 hours I had seen everything I wanted including a couple of races plus 'across the road'.
Except for some different aeroplanes in the display area it was no different from previous Revivals.
