My view of revival
Discussion
I drove over from Paris in my 7. Stayed with friends in Chichester Sat night and drove straight in at 08:00 obn Sunday morning. No drama for traffic.
Thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the day. The limited access to the pits was still very intetrsting. Even if you did not have a pass to go through you could lean over the fence and see everything. Very high proportion of people dressed correctly and some of the totty was top dollar. Limted space in the 7 meant didnt have space for essentials such as a cmping chair or shooting stick to rest on or binos. Walked all around the circuit and was very pleased with the fact that you could get a really good view at all the major corners.

Well that makes it worth a go next year
If the sun is out....Revival is always superb for Top Totty. Think Ladies Day at Ascot combined with the smell of Castrol R and hot Mintex linings rather than horse st Well that makes it worth a go next year
Even on Saturday in the pouring rain, it was sometimes like an all day 'wet posh frock' contest rather than a wet t-shirt contest
I went on Friday and Sunday, thoroughly enjoyed both days. I'm a fair weather fan and just don't enjoy standing around in the rain so gave Saturday a miss!
Arrived later at about 11:00am and missed all the traffic and was also straight out at the end with no traffic.
On the whole, I think Sunday was one of my most enjoyable days at revival of the last few years. I didn't think it was as busy, the weather was great, racing was exciting, stalls/shops/over the road was fun. The 1966 footy was a bit naff but it wasn't a negative.
I thought the whole atmosphere was a lot more relaxed than last year which helped, and the reduced numbers meant no queuing for food/drinks/toilets.
Friday was much of the same and the dusk race is a great thing to watch.
All in all, well done Revival.

But for some people that is their entertainment. The ladies in our party loved the settrington cup much to my annoyance.
Had to Google the Settrington cup. Some, at least, find it intense.https://youtu.be/N2vjLp69DTI

Do we really want the likes of WJNB at the Revival? For me the event was perhaps less than previous years due to the weather on Saturday and the irritating drivel spouted by Ben Constanduros and that dreadful squawking female presenter. With regard to dressing for the period, we always do so to add to the spirit of the event and I consider that those that don't bother somewhat miss out on the fun. The racing was to the usual standard but I concur with comments about the St.Mary's trophy. It didn't really work as well as in previous years races with mixed capacity engines. I didn't really understand the relevance of the football fans ( apart from the 50 year thing) and it seemed totally out of place to me. The CAA have of course put the mockers on the flying display which is a shame and the ever encroaching 'safety precautions' are a bit tedious. Will I go next year - of course I will.

Camping is usually great at the Revival - but one very unpleasant event occured this year: We were on campsite E when during the night from saturday to sunday a bunch of thieves came to the campsite and robbed many people of their money while they were sleeping. There were tents and motorhomes opened and wallets stolen when people were in there sleeping. Very bad, never thought something like that would happen there. They only took cash and disposed of the wallets later, so at least many documents and even credit cards could be retrieved. But there was a massive queue at the security office sunday morning reporting the crimes. Absolutely disgusting...
3 tents in our group were 'broken into', just cash taken. On Sunday night we found a handbag behind our tents, no cash in it but purse full of cards and car keys still there, we managed to trace the owner so could return it.
My cash was in car, but don't think they tried to open my tent.

Sorry but what's WJNB mean?
the bloke (or woman) that always comes on here and moans about goodwood... yet, mysteriously goes to every event...Sorry but what's WJNB mean?

While others are entirely antipathetic! What next, a bloody shetland pony gymkhana?
Maybe, just maybe, some of the younger folk attending quite like this - and you never know, actually ask Mum & Dad if they can come back next year? It's 20 minutes out of 3 days for crying out loud. Can you not find something else that even slightly interests you at the event in that time?
I'm just glad I discovered Goodwood before I discovered PH to be honest. Not sure I'd have bothered going having read some of the stuff on here...

Good grief yes, don't take any notice of anything written on here! It's full of people only too willing to tell you what is wrong with Goodwood and why they won't be going any more. This was my 11th consecutive Revival and I enjoyed it every bit as much as the first.~iw
