I think GRRC decide who has a grid slot.
They do... Sadly we registered too late to get on there this time around.

Next time we'll head down earlier and try and register for a grid spot. I guess we don't know the dates for the next one yet, huh?

Yes the organisers decide on grid spots, getting there early makes no difference.

As for the next one, the breakfast club themes are usually announced at the beginning of the year but it's highly unlikely there will be another "Hot hatch" as early as next year.

Reply collision there.

I don't think you can be too late any more than too early. I have in the past had my "site access" pass upgraded to "grid" just before the event.

Really? My missus applied (as a surprise anniversary present) and the impression given was that the grid was full but I'm not fully aware of the conversations. I'm guessing there are only a certain number of spots to fill and once they have an interesting car or two of each type then that's that.

So, I'd hope an earlier application for display would get you there with an interesting car (which I hope/ think my V6 is).

There was a V6 on the grid so I guess they decided one is enough. How they decided between the 4 or 5 that were there is anyone's guess.

It certainly wasn't free after food!

Yeah, I get the impression that once they have an example or two of cars they'd like then that's that. I guess if one owners club group, for example, all registered, they wouldn't fill the grid with say Mk1 GTis.

Indeed. I normally get an egg & bacon bap and a couple cups of tea but then I go on my own not with family! I guess the full Monty adds up.

It's only once a month, and £7 for my huge baguette of organic goodwood sausage and egg and onion I think is reasonable. Far better grub than you'd get from a normal burger van. It's a day out if that's all it's cost then so be it. (Although my mrs insisted on a drive in the country followed by shopping and a roast in a country pub, something to do with getting up early to see cars in the cold???)

Think we paid £21.50 or something for a bacon bun, a sort of (small) full breakfast in between two pieces of sour dough and 4 x teas...

The price didn't bother me so much as the appalling quality that even my dog, quite literally, turned her nose up at.

I don't think it was a 'Goodwood' van though but a 3rd party - I know to try a different one, next time.

Mrs9 had a burger later on that she seemed to like though!

And, of course, that wouldn't stop me from going - it's a fantastic, free event and I hope it goes from strength to strength.

We'll certainly be attending more, in the future!

I think back to when these first started happening in 2006? You could have a sit down breakfast for £12 over the track from the pits.
You could get the Goodwood breakfast club sticker too free if you ate there!

Dom9 we tried to find you but couldn't see the car or you.
The other breakfast events are worth going to, they are in a different league to anything else.

You could get in this one Vee Sunday

Or even this one

Hey bud - we were pretty late turning up (due to various factors) and were one of the last cars on the straight, all the way down the far end frown

I thought I saw your old beast (but could have been another) but didn't see you.

Will PM you with my number and we can message, next time - It was pretty jammed with people between say 8:30am and 9:30am so easy to miss people!

Vee Sunday looks fun... I am going to have to start getting some of these in the calendar - hopefully the good ones are now spring/ summer wink
