It was meant in jest but sorry if you didn't find it funny like Rich.

I also stated ring the office which is helpful.
If in jest, most follow up with a smilie etc to ensure the correct tone comes across when writing a response.

Maybe I'm not as easily amused as Rich?

Why is saying to ring the office helpful when I've already answered the question with regards to the family upgrade option?

Anyhow, lets just leave it here, before your boyfriend leaps to your defence again wildy swinging his handbag!
(i thought it was amusing also, i knew the first time i read it it was a joke ?!)

... you must have a short fuse Mr. Tattoo ...

Goodwood has the best offering. Only rival is Silverstone Classic. I live in the NW but go down to Goodwood as often as possible. Sadly I live 1 mile from CPOP and its nothing like Speed nor will it ever will be. Goodwood is a unique offering and Members and Revival are simply amazing. Given up on Speed as too many people and I'm too old to put up with huge crowds.
LM needs the estate to pay its way. He isn't running charity but a commercial business. Yes it's not cheap but it's good value. I met Tony Brooks and Fittipaldi and stood talking to both. Where else could you do that.
Couldn't agree more - I also live in the NW near Oulton Park and have been to the Donnington and Silverstone events too this year. In my opinion, both no where near as good as Goodwood - I found Silverstone way too big with largely empty grandstands and a lack of Screens from said grandstands.....there was more atmosphere on the moon! Donnington, whilst the actual circuit is good to drive, the outer facilities are ste....can't be arsed walking on all those cinder tracks on the perimeter!

The 4 Paddock Passes we receive for the Revival each year that the GRRC Family membership afford, is worth the price per year on it's own. I don't know of any other event, in the World, that allows you to get so close to say, the Prince Bira ERA or a Lister or Maserati driven by Moss et al......£290 is nowt for the privilege.

Membership, even being 250 miles away from Goodwood, is a no brainer each year for us.

My sports and social club from work get block tickets for all GW events which seem to undercut GRRC prices by 10-15%.
I've been a member for some time but really not sure I will rejoin as the Kennels is overpriced and the food average, GRRC trackdays seem to be twice the price of other providers (ah but you get coffee - wow!) and the discounts on every other event seems mean to say the least.

That wouldn't be CSMA would it?

Thanks - just wondered - there was no such thing when I joined at the 1998 Revival - I think the membership fee was about £80 then!

They sent a pamphlet detailing the benefits. I keep adding them all up and it never comes close to ad-hoc expensing (for me, anyway). OK, membership gets you into the GRRC tent at the meetings (where you then pay through the nose for food), and sometimes reserved parking - on the same muddy grass/grassy mud as we all park on - but closer. Having said that, I would have joined if not for the first year joining fee which I don't agree with.

Oh, and if you lose your GRRC pin badge a replacement is only £25 Sir.

And that was because cheapskates kept handing them to their mates to get them into the Marquee and Paddock etc. biggrin

p.s. If you simply tally up the discounts then no, it won't equate to the cost of membership. However I enjoy sitting in Chicane Grandstand at the Revival, the members' marquee is a great facility and actually has discounted drinks as well as clean loos and lockers. Sometimes I'll park on Lavant Bank. I like randomly being invited to Goodwood events, my wife and I have had dinner at the house three times now. I often get on the grid at B'Fast clubs and occasionally had breakfast in the control tower on invitation only. Oh I get discount on tickets, not much but some. It's not for everyone but to me it's definitely worthwhile.

Agreed Rich, and of course if you live locally the kennels and the monthly meet ups are a good benefit to get involved in the club and meet a great bunch of like minded individuals.

Normally the second Tuesday of the month, plus there are now some meets around the country. All dates are published in the newsletter. Generally at the kennels we have around 15 in attendance and a member of the GRRC team in attendance, this year we have also had Freddy Hunt in attendance and Bell and Colvill with a Morgan and a Lotus Evora 400 for us to test drive during the evening.

He's a bit of an arse, isn't he?
From what I saw and the conversation I had with him I couldn't disagree more. He just wanted to mingle and chat about motoring in general and came across as a very nice guy.

After both being members for 2 years, both my girlfriend and I are not renewing. Marginal benefits, and very disappointed about the latest Revival. Always loved the Goodwood events, but this year the Revival felt very corporate and more stripped down than before - members benefits at the festival itself were also very limited, and we had to negotiate with them to park our period '63 1/2 Galaxie (which they didn't race this year) in the historic car park, on the grounds that 'we needed an additional ticket for that' even though all passengers were members for years. Also do not live close enough to benefit from the golf club, Kennels and what have you not, unfortunately.
