Also a Fos virgin just wondering what’s the best way to travel to the festival from Portsmouth don’t have access to a car as rental was way to expensive bus train taxi a combination ??
When you leave the station at Chichester there will be buses waiting - I think it was about £3 for a return ticket, they run all day until about 8pm IIRC. Really easy last year, I think I'm going to do it again this year so I can have a few beers ecsrobin said:

Train strikes next week - get that alternative booked/arranged
If anyones travelling Edinburgh to Goodwood Wednesday let me know Was meant to be travelling home Tuesday but strikes has pushed me to Wednesday and fear I may miss FOS on Thursday with the repercussions.

My son & I are both FOS virgins too.
We are camping for the full 4 days at Goodwood itself rather than fighting the traffic.
A few questions, if I may?:-
Is there a farm shop or supermarket close by? For the obligatory BBQ’s and to make sandwiches/snacks for throughout the day.
I’ve heard you can book a full long weekend pass for the Goodwood spa, my son is 19. Has anyone tried it? Think it’s worthwhile?
What are the showering facilities & toilets like on the campsite? It wasn’t cheap, so hope for a bit of civility!
Thanks in anticipation…
Unfortunately Ive never camped so cant answer those questions, same with the spa (although Id imagine its pretty good) We are camping for the full 4 days at Goodwood itself rather than fighting the traffic.

In terms of food/shopping - theres a few supermarkets a couple of miles out, however getting in/out of the site can take quite a while so id take as much as you can to avoid having to head out. If you head towards Chichester there is a Sainsburys on one of the main roundabouts - from memory it'd take about 10 mins to drive there on a normal day
We don’t want warm beers, or lack of meat do we?
If you don't have a grandstand seat, there are a couple of free raised platforms up towards the top of the hill and also a load of benches near the flint wall.
Above the flint wall things get much quieter (but also in terms of food options and toilets). I always do the paddocks first thing then watch/photograph from right up near the rally stage entrance.
They do change things each year though so no guarantees on the above, used to be some good viewing spots further up on the left of the hill, but they've all gone, so if you're walking up the paddock/house side you will have to cross the track at some point.

Thanks CH37, some good points there. Above the flint wall things get much quieter (but also in terms of food options and toilets). I always do the paddocks first thing then watch/photograph from right up near the rally stage entrance.

We are really looking forward to it! It seems some proper mad machines will be there this year so very excited to see them. We have some friends racing up the hill too, so will be good to see how they get on.
Thanks Ecksloon

I didn't get grandstand seats. Is it worth taking small folding camping chairs or is there not really anywhere to use them?
I've never bothered as there is simply so much to see I've never stayed in one place that long, but you should be fine using them up near the flint wall, it's the only place with a decent banking that allows you to sit and view (even just a picnic blanket would be fine). Bit late to the party on this thread but my two pennies worth.
Early in….we arrive at 6:30 when the car parks should be opening. Use the toilet facilities while they are clean, whack some milk in cornflakes we bring in a bowl.
Cover the windscreen if it’s hot and dry…the car parks get very dusty.
Head in at 7. Do the super cars paddock area while it’s quiet, grab a bacon roll having taken out the required mortgage.
Work our way up the hill as the bottom gets busy with social influencers and their like.
Late out….basically when it closes. Head for our car and have a picnic for an hour to let the traffic die down.
Can’t wait.

Another FoS virgin here. I have performance parking for Saturday. Unfortunately due to various issues I won’t be turning up until around 9.30 or 10. So I need to prepare for enormous traffic jams or does the performance parking allow slightly quicker access?
It does have a seperate entrance, your main issue will be traffic on the main roads before you get to seperate offChubbyross said:

There'll be enormous queues getting towards Goodwood estate for everyone. RichB said:
