I think that was my post about how each year there is less events. That’s just stating fact. I then proposed give it a couple of years and we will be down to none.

The next breakfast club on 25th June is for GRRC members only, so guess they will see how busy that is. That could be the future
That’s the 3rd running of that event.

More relaxed atmosphere than Supercar Sunday, great mix of cars, much more enjoyable
Agree!!

Really enjoyed it yesterday, fantastic mix of cars and seemed a bit less busy when we went (from 9:30-12:30).

By comparison, after Supercar Sunday i said i wouldnt go to another breakfast meet!!

I went for the first time yesterday as my car was unexpectedly accepted.

I was pleasantly surprised by the diversity of the cars and people - it was good to see enthusiasts in interesting cars.

I saw 2 cars I've never seen before- the yellow Matra and a black Simca Aronde.

A brace of Renault 8 Gordinis and an original Renault 5 Turbo as well as a lovely Citroen GS Pallas.

Non French cars of note were a lovely BRG Wolseley with Rostyle wheels, a BMW 2002 turbo and black manual sharknose 635 as well as an NSU Prinz

It was also lovely to see an immaculate DB6 Volante and a DB6 coupe set up for time trials

A mention has to go to the Herald shell perched atop a Landrover chassis.

So much more interesting to see eccentric/odd stuff rather than the latest expensive supercars (although there was a lovely new Porsche 911 in dark green with plaid seats which carried off the look surprisingly well).

Then went for a swim at Arundel Lido before driving home through the Cotswolds, stopping off at The Fleece for a cider.

All in all , it was worth a 600 mile round trip.

Appropriately named "Marmite".

Nothing exciting - an XJ40 which the family has had since new but there is always someone who is interested in it ...

The Herald was the product of a fevered imagination but I loved the eccentricity of it !

Warning! Possible controversial post ahead!

If they are planning to do this and it is based on the amount of disruption it causes the local residents, can I suggest that Goodwood try getting rid of Supercar Sunday first?

I used to love it. I mean where else would you see five F40s in one place like there was one year? But now it seems to have distorted into a gathering of social media freaks with their massive cameras, general show offs and knob jockeys in their assorted 10 year German wk wagons with the boost ragged up trying out knob their mates on the roads around the circuit and show up any "posh tt" trying to do the same thing in his Ferrari convertible.

Plus with the amount of people that gather at the entrance and at the roundabout, one of these days one of these muppets is really going to try to prove how big his penis is by spearing in off into the crowd and killing someone. That will put an end to Breakfast Clubs full stop.

My feeling is that the other Breakfast Clubs are more friendly, a more interesting selection of cars and just a nicer place to be on a Sunday morning.

There you go, flame away!
No flames required, it's the one I always give a big swerve! Oh and for the knob-heads in German cars behaving like tts on the roads, I got overtaken by about six of them yesterday, obviously a convoy of them, on the road from Northchapel down to Petworth. Absolute aholes overtaking on blind bends, crests of hills etc. absolute death wish. Unfortunately it'll be someone else they kill.

The XJ looked lovely and was drawing a lot of positive comments from people when I passed it. I like it even more now that I know it’s a one-family-owned car.

Thanks for that - it's good to know as I was a little diffident about submitting the car for entry..

The morning reminded me of earlier times at Goodwood when you could have a chat about cars with a diverse range of people in a relaxed atmosphere.

Interesting posts, must admit one of the things I have normally enjoyed is the run down to the event on fairly empty roads, but I always fear Badgers, or Deer which will destroy your pride and joy. Supercar Sunday has changed over the years and there are a lot of fans that attend these events, I find it rather amusing watching all these young presenters talking rubbish about certain cars they know little about. Did any of you guys ever take part in the early piston heads "Dash for the coast" runs? Let's just say they were interesting!

is it true this is the last year they're doing the breakfast clubs?
My son told me that just today. Apparently they have to limit events that cause disruption to locals etc .
I would be surprised if that's the case, for those living nearby to the circuit the most problematic neighbors are Rolls-Royce (daily gridlock at shift change), the waste recycling plant (smell) and the travelers transit site (source - other parents when my children were at the village school). Although it only takes a few persistent complainers to the council to cause issues, some loser in Lavant would be out with his sound level meter when the Spitfires took off.

If they are reducing the event frequency I would have thought that a more likely explanation is that its time and resource spent by Goodwood with minimal profit and grief when the serial complainers have a moan.

That’s what I suggested in my earlier post. The events are being replaced by fee paying activities like cycling, dog walks, players classic, and so on. Unfortunately it seems they’ve ignored the option of asking attendees if they’d be happy to pay but I suspect that’s because actually the outgoings of a cycle event vs income is probably better.

If you have seen the amount of new boxes which Building companies list as "Homes" being built both sides of the A27 and back roads getting nearer and nearer to the circuit itself with no additional road infrastructure to ease congestion around Chichester its only a matter of time before these new box owners start complaining, more and more noise restrictions will creep in and events with motor vehicles will become les and less, I'm sick to death of being pessimistic, but I really do feel the worst.

It’s been discussed previously that there is a clause in the new builds that they cant complain about the noise (not sure about the traffic) generated by Goodwood.

Some of the buyers of the new houses on Madgwick corner are complaining about the smell from the tip near-by and think its the councils fault for granting planning for the development that THEY decided to move to. I am sure next it will be the noise from the track/airfield that, again, they made a decision to move near.

Well-written post by Hypno IMO, and far from isolated incidents. It's a shame, growing up I aspired to own a BMW M car - now i'm of an age/means where I can make a dream become reality, and to be honest there's absolute 0 impetus; M cars/AMGs/whatever other fast saloons seem to be driven for the most part by moronic oxygen thieves, and the worst part is that the cars nowadays are so capable that these tards bomb along at warp factor 9, happy in their ignorant bubble blissfully unaware that the car/ESP systems/automatic gearbox are doing 90% of the work for them.

Funny it's always the same people at trackdays in their brand new M4 or whatever, flying down the straights, slow af through the corners, and if you walk past their car in the paddock the rear brakes will be 'pinging' from the heat their traction control has generated pulling the back brakes on all the time trying to keep them out of barriers rolleyes
