One thing that is out of Goodwood’s control is the driving standards of some attending, got overtaken by a A45 and BMW on the A27 that can’t have been far shy of touching 140 mph, on a damp road it wouldn’t take much at those speeds to take themselves out and whoever is unlucky enough to be in the same place with them.
That’s a symptom of the social media age, it never used to be like that. Now you have the great unwashed, who still live with their mums with their “tuned super car slayer” , re-enacting what they see on “officially gassed” or “living life fast”… where using excessive speed in the middle of the day on busy roads is quite acceptable

Been going since they started, as you say a much smaller gathering of people, as will all these things they grow and change, victims of their own success.
These were the highest speeds I've witnessed on a public road for a long time, and completely out of Goodwood's control, with SS it will attract a different cross section of society, some of whom may not consider the consequences of their actions, I'm sure there are plenty of things I did at a younger age that were questionable, I'm not adverse to 'making progress' when the conditions allow, and have spent plenty of time competing in Sprints and Hill climbs over the years, however these speeds were beyond anything that would be considered appropriate.

I got there at 7 it was already busy - saw loads of amazing cars and chatted to some owners and drivers - including the gent that drove the T50 in - great cars and great people - left by 11:30 - still people arriving at that point - despite the display areas looking deserted.
Queues for coffee and bacon were excessive at the paddock, but only a short walk to find one with no queue. Worth it? Yes, there are only so many places in the world where it easy to stand and chat to the driver of a £3m car.

Interesting reading the comments here.
I had a ridiculous early morning start and arrived at 6.40am. I was amazed how many of the public were there already queuing up waiting to get in, fair play they were keen. I drove straight under the circuit and was one of the first to enter the paddock. I was directed by the marshals to park in the centre paddock. Now at this point if any marshals are reading this I would like to say thank you for the effort of getting up early and volunteering to look after us at such an early hour.
I enjoyed the morning but did find it amazingly busy, there were some questionable cars too that had been accepted which I found odd, not sure who decides which cars are in or out? I did queue up for a sausage roll later in the day but the customer service from the young staff was woeful with no customer interaction and I decided to save my money. Customer service comes first in my book and if you can't be bothered to offer it you should find another job! There were a lot of young kids there, I stood there in disbelief watching one young child with an almost empty water bottle in his hand holding it above a bonnet of a car simulating hitting it several times with his father looking on holding another child and the mother eventually leading her child away. I really do wonder what planet these people are on!
Anyways I enjoyed being at the Circuit, it's one of my fave places and I didn't leave until 4.30pm

... yes, some people bring a different car to what they applied with or just "forge" their pass so thats mainly why oddball cars get in ... some people are desperate ...

I thought similar - then realised they’d let me in in my TVR (although it’ll smoke most ‘supercars’ of its time) 🤷🏻♂️The RS6 was a bit of a p155 take though 😂

RS6 and a current Gen Ford mustang. Interesting You don't think a Dodge Viper is a Supercar, they have smashed ring records, awesome racing history, accepted at Beaulieu Supercar weekends, accepted by Supercars of Essex car club, Drivers Union Supercar club. Gen 5 viper T/A smashed every circuit track record in USA Gen IV viper took the ring record for a stock production car. But I guess your personal knolege of what defines a Supercar is diffrent to their's. The total production of the hand-built Viper from 1992 to 2017 is under 1 year of Corvette production. The RS6 was a bit of a p155 take though ??
In reality it’s a modern day American muscle car
Push rod engine. $55k ish when released, so not that exclusive, just not widely bought over the corvette.
Nothing wrong with that, just not a super car. A bit like an R33 GTR.
Beaulie accepting it… thats not really a reliable barometer. These places will accept anything they don’t have to hire…

Haters gonna hate, have a nice day. It just isn’t a supercar in my view. It doesn’t really tick any supercar boxes other than straight line performance and in fact is probably too fast! It would be more appropriate at a hot rod Sunday or even a GT. Happy to have a debate about it, but I doubt an old purist like me can be convinced.

I love seeing your car at the many events and would happily own one but it isn’t a supercar. Plenty of cars about with ring records and great racing records that aren’t supercars. Pretty sure dodge marketed it as a sports car.
It’s the same with Porsches being allowed in that aren’t a CGT.
