The marquees over the cars have been stripped of their canvases, and many of the cars are all exposed to the upcoming weather.
They've locked the site and a lot of expensive stuff has been squirreled away, even if it doesn't end up being too bad I'm struggling to see how they are going to have the site fully ready for 7am tomorrow, the gusts are due to hang around until well after sunset (and I imagine now, more people will be inclined to arrive early to make a full day of it, especially as many will be in nearby hotels and be fresh from doing very little today). With respect to the traffic getting to Goodwood I don't think it's entirely the traffic organisers fault. You should be aware that the traffic around Chichester in general has been getting fairly bad over the last few years. This is compounded in the summer months by the holiday traffic.
There has been massive levels of house building around Chichester and the surrounding area with the consequent rise in traffic on a road system that was just about coping before. There used to be distinct clearing of traffic after about 9.30 am on the bypass and through town, now there is just a general build up of traffic that stays throughout the day.

It was busy and total slop on the surrounding roads yesterday.
The ‘performance car’ car park wasn’t too bad.
The A27 was a swimming pool so cleared the worst of the crap off.
I’d have not gone in the R8 in hindsight. 4x4 would be ideal. Although if it’s the 4x4 in your profile it’s hardly and old Defender where you don’t care if it gets a bit battered
If today’s dry tomorrow may not be as bad.

Could anyone help me answer a question about parking in the fields? Do you need to show a ticket to park in the car parks or can I simply drive there and park, as I want to spend the day taking photos outside the venue of cars arriving/leaving. I can't remember if I showed a ticket to the parking marshals when I attended FoS propery last year.

Parking was uncontrolled for me on Thurs… paperwork needed to enter the estate after parking.rupro said:

Parking attendants don’t ask to see any tickets, well not for the regular parking. My first time at FOS, I arrived Wednesday with my caravan, leaving Sunday or Monday depending on traffic. I’m staying in one of the events camping fields which I’m impressed with.
Thursday was ok, spent a full day walking round, Thankfully I have grandstand tickets for the 4 days as they are needed with the rain. Didn’t seem to be many car manufacturers stands with cars to look at and sit inside as I had been told there normally Is.
Went in again early afternoon on Friday after the rain had stopped but didn’t see anything I hadn’t seen on Thursday.
To be honest I’m glad today was cancelled as I felt I saw it all on day 1 and got fed up with walking through the crowds. The cars going along the track were initially good to see, but after you’ve seen a few it quickly gets boring. Would happily have gone home after Thursday but I’m here with others so can’t.
Saw a few celebrities walking around including Jenson Button, Kryton from Red Dwarf, James Martin the chef and Matt from High Peak Autos (he’s tiny).
Glad I came as I like to experience big live events but 4 days here is far too long for me and doubt I’ll come again. It glad I didn’t go to RIAT(RAF Fairford) as I had considered as that doesn’t sound fun this year with the weather.

Bar Rosso was absolutely heaving last night with the various OEM stand staff and stayed open until midnight. We used to do breakfast there but it’s much easier to get to Goodwood earlier and eat there.
Very strange day today. Went for a very bracing walk along the seafront first thing before a MacDonald’s breakfast then back to spend a couple of hours in the arcades at Butlin’s.
We then went over to Chichester to watch Mission Impossible. Suspension of disbelief required but a pretty good film overall. The car park isn’t well suited to the Defender 130 V8 though. I backed in as far as I could…
.
Still extremely windy here. None of the outside activities opened today
Arrived on site a while ago and our stand survived intact.
The team blocked up the front entrance and that seems to have done the job. They were back on site at 4am to return things to normal
Walking round the site there are a few signs of damage but everything and more importantly everybody seem to have survived.

I went along on Friday and fair enjoyed the show despite the weather.
Remember looking over Freddie Spencers NS500 triple thinking what an amazing machine.
Whilst looking close up at the detail - got a tap on the shoulder only to turn around and there is Freddie himself. Something I'll never forget.
The Honda RC166 when started was the loudest thing I have ever heard!
Met Brad Binder, Randi Mamola and shared a joke with Pol Esparagro.
All of these superstars took the time to stop, talk and take a picture.
Met Mick Doohan and stood whilst the HRC technician's warmed up his NSR500 before he climbed aboard. Even the watching Ducati technicians stood and applauded afterwards.
As for the electric cars - I can appreciate their performance but it's kind of soul less - watching and listening to the crowd when the fire breathing 1911 28 litre Fiat went up the hill compared to the electric cars zipping past in silence.
I just didn't feel anything towards then.
Fire and noise for me is what attracts me to an event like this.
Cheers
