I note that RIAT has not been cancelled. I'm pleased that I went to FoS on Thursday and am at RIAT on Sunday.
It wouldn't surprise me if the flying displays are affected on the Saturday though? Certainly not to the same level as normal. Then the moaning about the fact that they should have cancelled it as people haven’t got what they've paid for etc etcnordboy said:

Lot of the flying was cancelled Friday and it looks worse today Fast and Spurious said:
Lower winds than what?
24mph is what's mentioned in the thread. So you're saying less than that, and it was chaos.
Really?
Read the thread then. 40 mph gusts (up to 49 mph on bbc weather, but you are referring specifically to this thread). And yes, really.24mph is what's mentioned in the thread. So you're saying less than that, and it was chaos.
Really?

The decision to cancel the Saturday event won't have been taken lightly by the organisers in conjunction with their health and safety team but the volume of people in such a small area and the many temporary structures can't be ignored. Goodwood can't be compared to Silverstone in case someone tries as that's a different situation all together.
All the rich beautiful people, what are they going to do now?
May I suggest some actual real driving at Castle Combe down the road, you might learn something and find out what real driving is all about? Instead of watching a bunch of rich morons who cant drive wobbling up some rich blokes drive.

You have an odd definition of down the road.

Mate, have a quiet word with yourself and maybe seek some professional help. Try and find out why you feel the need to make completely unnecessary and spiteful comments such as this. You come across as embittered and inadequate and I doubt that's the impression you are trying to make.May I suggest some actual real driving at Castle Combe down the road, you might learn something and find out what real driving is all about? Yes, quite. Because there has never been a talented driver spotted at the Goodwood event. Any other useful ‘suggestions’ while you’re bumping your gums?May I suggest some actual real driving at Castle Combe down the road, you might learn something and find out what real driving is all about? Health & Safety again?…& seems a bit-drastic - But probably a tough call and not what Lord Ma4ch would ideally want.
Been previous years when the weather was really bad there (1996? / 97?). A tough one…But could back-fire badly on Lord Ma4ch if he goes down the route, like during COVID, of getting you to donate your ticket with no refund etc. + then crowdfunding him as he lost out in 2020.
Best policy would be to say Full Refund for anyone who bought a ticket , today…and at least offer a 1/2 price ticket, for NEXT year, if you booked Saturday, this year…
We love the event - But he does VERY well out of us & with food sold etc. also costing a small fortune here - It’s the least he can do to as a Thankyou for all our custom over the last 30 years, I think?

Really! Cars can’t cope with 24mph wind and 40mph gust? That’s if it happens cos’ the forecast this July hasn’t been predicted accurately by the Met Office. Is this more climate change BS?
The cancellation seemed more about the number of temporary structures, which having been to this and the Revival, there's some massive marquees, which if they came down wouldn't be much fun... And a lot of injuries!Edited by Phil. on Friday 14th July 23:27
Obviously, in winter there isn't all the catering tents, or beer tents so there's not any great risk.
So, does make sense sadly.
Always a problem with outdoor events. Especially Goodwood which you have to book a year in advanced really with hotels and tickets gone by March so once you are in that is it.
When we went in 16 it was a quagmire with cars getting stuck etc needing to be pulled out with tractors. Luckily for me and my GT-Four that wasn't a problem. People in totally inappropriate footwear falling down the hill because they didn't bring wellies.
The next year in 17 it was pure sunshine all weekend and makes for a totally different experience.
It is a bit of a bummer as you are looking at a grand for the weekend with two people easy and especially if you only gone for the Saturday it must be a bitter pill to swallow as it is a fantastic event when the weather is good.
We were planning a weekend away at Alton towers this weekend but at least I could wait until Friday to make a decision that the weather was going to rubbish.
