Perhaps someone (maybe Sarah) can enlighten me as to why having just ordered a single FOS ticket at £63.75 with my GRRC membership I have been charged £9.75 postage for the privilege of having it sent to me registered delivery.
Typical cost for registered delivery of an item this size should be between £2 and £4 and believe me the latter amount would be pushing the boundaries.
Yet again- feeling like I’m being fleeced.

Because Goodwood.

When you go, I strongly recommend picking up a sandwich at Tesco Express on the way. Goodwood food prices are equally absurd.

For several years I had a GRRC membership but dropped it a decade ago as shocking value.

I’m well aware of the cost of everything when inside as I’ve been going there for 20 years. That’s not my point. I’m specifically questioning how something that weights so little even within the small paper wallet I will inevitably receive it in can cost me £10 for the privilege of having it posted through my front door, registered or not.
I cannot help but think GW are making a shed load of money out of simply putting things in the post on top of everything else.

Even worse if you think they probably have a franking machine so pay even less than advertised postal rates.

If the value of the goods are over £50 they might be using "Special Delivery" which costs £7.65. Add the costs of envelope and time & maybe you are there?

(Maybe hehe)

It's no different from how can a spoon of instant coffee in a paper cup cost £3.

Welcome to Goodwood. These days I just buy general entry and roaming grandstand for the Friday, not least on the basis that if it's thrashing down with rain I'd simply bin the ticket and not bother to go. I've not forgotten the delights of queuing for an hour to get out of a very muddy car park.

Does a ticket have any actual ‘value’? That might sound odd but it’s not like posting jewellery for example. A ticket can be cancelled so although it has a face value it doesn’t have a specific value as an object.

No. I don't know why the don't use a QR coded download like a lot of other places.

I was just trying to apply logic hehe

Dare I say because the little cardboard wallet, the swing badges, especially the enamel ones for MM etc. are all rather nice - typically Goodwood. scratchchin

The price of postage is clearly enumerated on the Goodwood shop page.

I believe you have the option of collecting the tickets, free of charge, if you don't want to pay the postage. smile

But yes, the cost does seem a little steep.

The fact it’s clearly enumerated does not stop it being a complete rip off.

It is pricey, but all you have to do is select regular postage and opt not pay for registered delivery!

Just checked. The post option is right at the top of the purchase screen and is easily missed. It’s default (unsurprisingly!!) is Registered Post and you have to manually change it. I missed that and went to the next screen whereby you get the impression it’s your only option. So- hands up from me for missing it- I wonder how many others do- but even so it doesn’t change the fact that it’s still bloomin expensive either way!

Quick thanks from me; I'm booking tickets for the Revival and would have been on the hook for a registered post fee of £10 or so had it not been for this advice.

Thanks Mk2Jag.
