how many people posting here will be going to a grand prix or le man and then complain about the price for a day with 8 hours of action?bottom line if you think its too expensive then dont go it will still be a sell out!
+1I still think the value at Goodwood compared to F1/etc is excellent and offers the opportunity to view machinery that you just wont see elsewhere
As said before, Goodwood is a business not a charity

The Aviation part of FoS is not replacing anything that has previously been there.. It is an addition to the event. If you don't like planes - just walk past it! J
No, the tickets are expensive enough. I just think that the Festival is changing and not in a good way. Keep all that bullst somewhere that doesn't interfere with the cars and bikes we all want to see and I'll be happy AngryApples said:

Which stands does a 'Roving Grandstand' ticket allow one to enter, I would like to be able to get into the 'smartest/emptiest' stand, do I need to join the GRRC to do this?
A roving ticket is exactly that this year.. you can get into all of the stands with one.. Natuarally, with the roving system, the emptiest may be the least popular so the smartest/emptiest isn't really relevant. If you put yourself on the waiting list for the GRRC, once you get a place, you will have the ability to purchase a ticket to the Kinrara enclosure which has an excellent grandstand which is never full to capacity. It also offers a relatively quiet place to spend your time when watching the cars run up the hill and not walking around the event.. To put yourself on the list - go to www.goodwood.com/grrc and select the application tab - complete the form and send it to us. At the moment, the wait is around 18 months for a place.Cheers,
J

Lord March is just getting too greedy. Just call it The Festival of Greed and have done with it.
I could have told you that last time I went back in 2007.After spending 3 1/2 hr's trying to get the Chim out of the carpark (after the heavy rain), I wrote to the Goodwood Estate suggesting that it might be a good idea for them to lay down metal roadways so this wouldn't happen again, (it was the 2nd time in two years).
The letter I got back from them basicly said, "If you don't like it then don't come. We can sell out every year, so we really couldn't give a toss about one little fan / pleb like you".
Up untill that point I had done the FOS or the Revival every year since it's conception.
Cheers,
J

The additional event i was talking about is a Vintage event on the 13/14/15 August for 40's through to 80's machinery.
Should be fun
Are you sure this involves cars? I know Lord March is supporting a new event called "Vintage" but I thought it was more a family-fun type thing in the house grounds as opposed to a race meeting at the track. Should be fun

Correct. I believe "Vintage" is being held at hat hill and is a bit like the revival but without the racing. I would imagine there will be static displays of relavent machinery though. Vintage is altogether different and will not feature cars. have a look here for more info www.vintageatgoodwood.com/
Expect loads of perss activity on this shortly - the press day is being held at a secret location this Thursday.

Clearly the market research shows that people like dressing up and attending social events. Whether sufficient women can convince their partners to dress up when racing is not involved is another matter. I looked at the Vintage promos given out at the Revival and felt a shudder up my spine.
Regarding a 70's event, surely that would go against the whole ethos of Goodwood not being designed to accept the power and braking abilities of post 66 machinery. Dr Palmer should work with the HSCC to make one of their meetings a 70's revival at Brands. F5000 , Supersaloons, Group C etc with ABBA and BeeGees tribute bands playing. Free entry to Southbank for Escorts and Capris etc. would provide another attraction like the Revival car park
