Clearly the market research shows that people like dressing up and attending social events. Whether sufficient women can convince their partners to dress up when racing is not involved is another matter. I looked at the Vintage promos given out at the Revival and felt a shudder up my spine.
Regarding a 70's event, surely that would go against the whole ethos of Goodwood not being designed to accept the power and braking abilities of post 66 machinery. Dr Palmer should work with the HSCC to make one of their meetings a 70's revival at Brands. F5000 , Supersaloons, Group C etc with ABBA and BeeGees tribute bands playing. Free entry to Southbank for Escorts and Capris etc. would provide another attraction like the Revival car park
That sounds like a good idea. Email the doc, he's usualy quite receptive to money spinning ideas.

This is probably steering Goodwood in the same direction as The Cholmondeley Pageant Of Power. I get the feeling that is a lot less crowded event. Has anyone been and what is it like?
It's a pastiche of the FOS with less decent machinery, no decent drivers and lots of northereners with flat caps drinking warm beer with twigs in hehe

What is probably steering Goodwood in the direction of The Cholmondeley Pageant Of Power? Does less crowded = better? confused

I've no idea what The Cholmondeley Pageant Of Power is but I wouldn't mind betting it doesn't put on a world class show like this...

Can't see there's any competition or comparison between Cholmondeley and Goodwood. I grew up about 5 miles from Cholmondeley and with Oulton Park local, it's amazing for the North West to have such an event. The vibe is very similar to the first couple of Festivals of Speed - more local and laid back than the current corporate behemouth the FoS has become, although that lack of corporate power does mean less out-there spectacle. Best bet is to attend CPOP and both Goodwood events, they're all fantastic!

The FOS is fantastic and for the money being asked, represents huge value for money. This year will be my 5th and it is even appreciated by my wife. Cost aside, how many other events allow you to be within touching distance of some of the most fantatsic cars and drivers in the world. The paddock might well be a walk down an F1 pit lane. If there are planes there this year, then great, more to see and aspirational viewing, why not.

If you don't like it, don't go. Change is part of life and with the FOS no one is forcing you to change with it.

I'd certainly agree with that on the Fridays, when there are free tickets available.

I haven't noticed it on the Saturday and Sunday though.
