i have heard that something will be happening at the circuit on the thursday but might just be testing some of the entrants
Close, but no cigar. It could be said that it would be adviseable to keep the Thursday clear in your diary however richebets said:
these 'new' events, does this not go back to a pistonheads news story back on the 21st of jan. No Uk motorshow this year, so the car manfacturers are showing of their lastest cars at goodwood F.o.s ,with test drivers available to the public .. www.pistonheads.co.uk/news/default.asp?storyId=213...

Given that MS has NEVER been lured to this event - any hope for this year i wonder
Given that all the drivers that have appeared (except Nigel Mansell) have done for free, I somehow doubt it. Still that said, stranger things have happened.Syndrome said:

The 2010 event will start a day earlier - on Thursday 1st July, through to Sunday 4th with a so-called moving motorshow.
There'll also be a celebration of cars and music - with vehicles that have inspired songs and guitars from famous petrol head musicians.
In a news conference, Lord March also revealed more about the theme: "We celebrate the all-consuming fascination for motor racing, with a major nod towards Italy's influence on the sport.

I can mention the extended hill climb by laying a new track down past the indoor riding school to make it a loop not just a 1 way up 1 way down hillclimb. I can't mention the main reason for the change though. keep 'em peeled.
Looks like it wont be ready this year though...."Motor show: could ease traffic at the Festival of Speed
This new road will also be good news for the Festival, as it will eliminate the bottleneck after each run and enable cars to return to their paddocks more quickly, keeping the action flowing faster. It won’t be ready for use over the weekend until 2011, however."

Jenson button's been confirmed but a website has said that it's optimistic whether Hamilton will be there?. 50 cars coming from Alfa's museum, Loeb, Ken block, Doughie Lampkin, Billy gibbons. I always use to like watching the cars come back down the hill though.
Would be surprised if Hamilton did not show up, he's always been a loyal supporter in the past. From Goodwood:
The annual Goodwood Festival of Speed is set to be held this year from 02-04 July. Below is a summary of just some of the planned 2010 Festival highlights:
2010 Festival Theme:
‘Viva Veloce! – The Passion for Speed’. This theme celebrates the all-consuming fascination with motor racing, and in particular Italy’s global influence on the sport. From Alfa Romeo to MV Agusta, Ascari to Agostini, and Monza to the Mille Miglia, Italians have raced with breathtaking fervour, inspiring desire and devotion that transcends national identity.
Preview Day ‘Moving Motor Show’:
The Goodwood ‘Moving Motor Show,’ as a one-day extension to the hugely successful Festival of Speed. This inaugural event will be held within the grounds of Goodwood Park as a significant addition to the annual Festival of Speed and will take place on Thursday 1 July 2010. New cars buyers will be able to enjoy an exclusive motor show preview day, where they will not only be able to see the very latest new car models on display, but also climb aboard and experience the vehicles first-hand. The cars will undertake hundreds of runs on a special evaluation route that includes the world famous Goodwood hillclimb, following in the wheel tracks of many celebrated racing drivers, including Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Sir Stirling Moss.
Modern Motor Sport:
Formula One – six of the current 2010 teams have already confirmed their attendance at Goodwood, along with a number of this season’s drivers, including the reigning World Champion Jenson Button.
WRC – Six-time World Rally Champion Sebastian Loeb is expected for the Festival, sliding his dominant Citroen C4 WRC around Goodwood’s demanding Forest Rally Stage. American star Ken Block will also be present, making his Festival debut in his wild 800bhp Ford Fiesta. A host of other rally stars and cars, past and present, will also be seen in action throughout the event, including Goodwood first-time Miki Biasio.
Motorcycles – Biking legend Agostini and Festival first-timer Kevin Schwantz are just two of the many leading names due to take to the Goodwood Hill on two wheels in July. Twelve-time World Trials Champion Dougie Lampkin will also be making a welcome return to the Festival, running amok throughout the event. To get a flavour of Dougie’s antics, visit www.goodwood.com/dougielampkin.
NASCAR – Top NASCAR guy Michael Waltrip will be on hand, along with an impressive line-up of these thunderous American racers, including the wild Toyota Tundra Craftsman Truck.
Alfa Romeo Centenary:
This legendary Italian marque celebrates it centenary at the Festival with a striking automotive ‘sculpture’ in front of Goodwood House. Expect to see over 50 important Alfa Romeos at the event, including the UK debut of the new Giulietta model.
Anniversaries:
60 Years of Formula One World Championship – The 2010 Festival of Speed will celebrate F1’s 60th anniversary with a momentous gathering of cars and drivers illustrating many of the key moments in the formula’s rich and varied history.
60 Years of Carrera Panamericana – Goodwood’s celebration of 60 years of the Carrera Panamericana class is sure to be one of the most evocative ever to grace the Festival of Speed.
50 Years of Forest Stages on the RAC Rally – 2010 marks 50 years since rally cars took to the forests of Britain for the first time on the RAC Rally. The Goodwood Forest Rally Stage will celebrate the rich history of the RAC, with a sensational gathering of cars and drivers, including many former winners.
50 Years of the Bathurst ‘Great Race’:
The Bathurst 1000 is the undoubted highlight of the Australian motor sport year. On display at this year’s Festival will be a selection of the thundering saloons that have defined this unique event.
Cars, Stars and Guitars:
A rarely-seen collection of distinctive customised cars owned by some of the world’s leading guitarists (e.g. Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and leading American blue’s player Jimmy Vaughan) are planned to be displayed at the Festival of Speed, along with each musicians signature guitar. It is also hoped that the guitarists themselves will strike up and play live at the event too, alongside their iconic cars.
In addition, the Cricket Pitch area will be turned over to a display of around 20 cars immortalized in song, such as Wilson Pickett’s Mustang Sally, Little Red Corvette by Prince and Hemi Charger by Kill Switch. During the day live bands will perform the songs represented by each of the 20 cars on the live stage near the display as spectators picnic or dance.

I came across Photos on one of Ken Block Monster rally team facebook pages, of the man himself visiting Goodwood house last month. I think it was tied into him testing an M sport Focus in advance of his WRC attack. Looked like Lord March gave him a tour of the estate and Block left with what looked like AutoCad drawings of the Fesitival Layout, saying he was planning a big entrance. Bring it on!
