ok so its only a few days to go now and was just surfing youtube when i stumbled across this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQ7gFfWZKWU&fea...

he seems to be really going for it in this video, so much so he nearly rear ends the bowler right at the end!

is this because its a timed run on the sunday? i was only there for saturday last year (first time) and didnt see anybody driving quite like this, would like to though smile

he seems it! is that fairly normal on a timed run though or did that more than likely get him a telling off by the marshalls?

I remember that weekend; Millen in the Tacoma was pretty much the most spectacular thing I've ever seen launched up the hill at Goodwood.

I generally find the driving on the Sunday at FoS to be the most exciting to watch. Those going for times tend to be pushing a tad more.

Millen has been a hero of mine for years and meeting him at the FoS was a total honour. He is a real gent and spent some time talking around the Tacoma. The extraordinary thing is just how much power the car has - it seems to pitch onto the bumpstops under power like a radio controlled car. I've never seen anything like it. Between Dr JP, Justin Law, Nick Heidfeld, Allan McNish, Gary Ward and Rod Millen we've been fortunate enough to witness some truly stunning runs over the last 17 years.

Agree compltetly. The festival of speed is a great event full stop but for me it's the guys you mention going for timed runs that are the best spectacle. Forget supercars, airbus', burnouts, etc..Said drivers in classic F1 cars, classic LeMans racers, Pikes peak stuff etc..going for fastest time of the day is as good as it gets. Oh and P.Hardman in drifting the Aston Martin DBR1!

Very sad that we won't be seeing Hardman in the DBR1 or the 330LMB again. All the other stuff is a sideshow compared to the quick runs - very impressed by the shoot-out they initiated last year, following the lead of conventional hillclimbing. Remember the Burns vs McRae battles as well? With Michele Mouton in the mix in the S1 as well. In the very early days, Marc Surer in the March 792-BMW was fabulous to behold as well. So many joy-filled memories. You can keep your burn-outs and your supercars, a trivial sideshow compared to seeing rare historic cars being driven so beautifully by yor heroes.

Watch out for Justin Law in the Silk Cut jag XJR9 too. Has a habit of scraping off bits of the car on the way up by getting slightly too close to immovable objects.
