Here are a couple of sequences that I took during today's (Friday) action.

The Peter Brock Holden VH Commodore was running as the star of the Bathurst 50th year celebrations. It looked good too as it bellowed towards us snappers at the left hander to the hill.

He was actually approaching rather quicker than we realised...

...and suddenly, oversteer became a wobble, then terminal understeer.

Four seconds and several hay bales later, the Holden's run at Goodwood 2010 came to an abrupt end...

...and a bill for parts, panel and suspension repairs for its owner.

Better luck next year guys.

But don't let that get you down. How about Jean Ragnotti in his Renault 5 Maxi Turbo, inventing corners where previously there were none.

Best not ask him to go drag racing then.

Roadcars? McLaren had a stand in the Style et Luxe featuring an MP4-12C plus stripped back chassis demonstrator and the Ueno F1 GTR. There was an F1 Longtail (red/yellow EMI) floating about too (see pic on page 1).

My modest selection. These were taken on Thursday so no shots of cars running up the hill. I tried to select those historical and rare cars which caught my eye. I'm not into modern supercars too much so the shots are all of racers of various types -

500cc Cooper (under restoration)

Porsche 908 Le Mans

1972 Ferrari 312 Spazzaneve (Snowplough). Pretty ugly but interesting. Note the outboard wing mirrors - which were back in fashion until they were banned this year.

This is a 1940 MID-ENGINED Alfa Romeo. Because of WW2 it didn't race much but THIS car, along with perhaps an E or F type Auto Union could have brought about the "rear engined revolution" into Grand Prix racing 20 years before Cooper.

Probably my favourite car of the event - the gas turbine powered Lotus 56B as driven by Emerson Fittipaldi in the 1971 Italian GP at Monza. It's a non-runner at the moment but totally unrestored (the brake discs were covered in rust). The colour scheme is interesting as Chapman enetered it under a short lived team name called World Wide Racing in order to avoid any legal problems with the Italian magistrates following Jochen Rindt's death in a Lotus at Monza the previous year.

Jim Clark's Indy winning Lotus 38 from 1965. I HAD seen this car before, back in 1984 when it was resident at the Indianapolis Speedway Museum. It's just been fully restored by Classic Team Lotus and is returning to the US after the Festival.

The Indy winning Maserati from 1939. The second picture shows the sponsor's logo - which I liked because of the Irish theme - a Shamrock and a clay pipe. Boyle was obviously of Irish immigrant descent.

Easy to do... I spotted the Ueno Clinic car, but whilst nice enough the new car didn't really seem to be attracting much attention at all (on Thursday) although it didn't sit as forelorn and unloved as the LFA did in the supercar paddock...

The dust and poor light in the Rally Forest was nightmare for my camera so I didn't stay there too long but the rest of the event as always was fantastic for photo opportunities. Lots of hidden gems and even though i've been 7 times before there was plenty of fresh stuff to look at.

I took a couple of short HD clips of the Supercars heading out too

I'll post up the 2nd when it's finished uploading.

p.s. Anyone get any shots of the Lotus F1 stand models?
