Goodwood Accomodation heads up! - New Travelodge from Dec 10
Discussion
Acouple of years ago I saw Bon Jovi at St. Mary's Stadium, Southampton. My mate and I stayed at a Travelodge near St. Mary's. I booked up about eight months in advance. I got quoted £45's for the night. I informed them at the time that Bon Jovi were playing half a mile away, and would the price go up, and I got told no it wouldn't. But about six months beforehand, I received a letter from them, saying they were going to be charging me £85's for the night. I telephone them up and asked why the price increased. I got told that it was classified as an "Entertainment Night". Due to Bon Jovi playing down the road.
I got Citizen Advice Bureau involved. Because, I had informed them previously and they did NOT send me any booking terms and conditions with the booking. I won the case of getting the room for £45's instead of the £85's.
Apparently, they have a clause in their terms and conditions, about an "entertainment" in the local area. So obviously as its FoS or Revival or Glorious. They are putting their prices up.

Obviously playing it safe now, the £110/night is up there now, so a good 9 months+ in advance
Good on you for sorting them out, I had issues with a B+B local'ish to Goodwood where I cancelled a booking for the revival back in January and they said they would have to keep the £150 deposit
To be fair, they had said it was non refundable, but I felt as it was some 8 months notice I was giving and it was unlikely they would have a problem reletting on Revival weekend I should be entitled to it back
I looked into it and the OFT had previously taken action for so called 'non refundable' deposits where notice had been given (and in that case, just over a month)
I told them I wanted it back and would take action if I didnt get it, they just took the "thats our policy" line
Oddly enough, when I started the small claims action they took a bit more notice (yet stupidly just let it go to default judgment, rather than just paying, odd!)
