2007 XT Chainset or BB?

I have noticed over the last few days a creaking from the BB area under pressure of pedalling. I really don’t know much about the more modern (ish) kit like I do with the older stuff, and also don’t have the tools. Anyway, it’s getting worse and was wondering if this is common new type of cartridge BB?

If not the BB what are the other main contenders for this sort of problem? On the older stuff I would have just tightened the crank arms!

Pedal threads will creak like that. Whip the pedals off and grease them up and see if that makes a difference
