We can only opt into our company cycle to work scheme once a year in April, so I have a little time to think about what I might like to get.

One of the thoughts I was having is how close I might be able to get to an all English-made road bike? There seems to be a reasonable choice of frames, and Hope certainly do road bike hubs, but what else is out there?

Now made in Taiwan granted. Originally English and if you hunted around most local bike shops "box of bits" you could probably find some original English made parts

And enjoy a free vasectomy once a ride as you change gear, apply pressure to the pedals, only to find drive had completely gone and you end up using your nuts as a space-hopper.

I'm sure I still have a chopper gear lever shaped dent in my 'tinta.

The grifter was equally viscous though. And as it was the wheelie bike of choice for late 70s, early 80s, children, it's no wonder that we're seeing such low fertility rates in that generation. Bloody hell that did hurt when you found a false neutral whilst frantically pedalling to keep the wheelie going.

Best wheelie bike ever made though the grifter.

Spec as above, but stem, seatpost and QRs are much nicer than their hope equivalents IMO.

Bearing in mind the cycle to work scheme is more than likely £1000 limit for the whole bike, £200+ on handlebars is a bit excessive!

I had a Pashley Pickle Tricicle which was said to be all English. Loved it.

Sorry, should've said. My employer fortunately has a consumer credit licence, so they let us spend up to £2k.

Not of course that I would ever contemplate spunking that on a bike in one year and then coming back and upgrading components in the following year! hehe
