So anybody else got issues/comments general whine about this.

Mrs Ivan is due to go into hospital this coming Thursday to give birth to Little Ivan No2, we have been told that Mum and Baby should be able to come home on Saturday or Sunday. Saturday will be no problem, Sunday however presents a major issue, due the route the cycle race will be taking. I am on the wrong side of the Hampton Court Bridge, while the hospital is on the other side in Kingston. Basically I am inside the loop section with no way out. I have been told as well that there is NO way they can let me through/over THEIR route while the race is in progress, even if it has not reached the section I want to cross, which I can sort of understand. So if Mr Ivan and Baby are kicked out of the hospital on Sunday Morning it will not be till 2pm at the very earliest that I will be able to go and get them. Mrs Ivan has been told that she can discharge herself on Saturday night if she wants to, but if they have even the slightest concern about Baby Ivan No2 then they will not let us discharge her, which is fair enough.

Current solution will be to book into a Hotel for Saturday night (less than 3 miles from my own bed) so I am on the right side of the bridge and if they get sent home, pick them up and wander round Kingston with a 3 day old little girl, not the end of the world, but there is a fairly large group of Family and Friends who are very keen to see Mum and baby as soon as we are home.

And for those who wish to go and clog up the roads and watch the sweaty lyric boys and girls do their thing biggrin

Minor moan over with, if I do get stuck and I can get to see my wife and new daughter, I’ll edit this into a proper rant, with as many censored as possible biggrin

Note, I have no issue with "you lot" tongue out, I don’t think you have any less right to the road than anyone else, I don’t think you should pay "road tax" and I don’t normally push past or threaten to run you over. And with any luck Mum and baby will be home before you all have your "oohh look at my package in my lycra" Party hehe

I must admit it does sound like it going to cause some major issues. I live in Walton and it looks like we are going to be penned in...

Why can a rolling road closure not be used? Are they going to line the entire route with barriers or something.

Hope all goes well with Mrs Ivan and Ivan Jnr 2nd.

Can you not leave your car on the other side of the route ? I am not aware of any parking restrictions yet and I live 20 metres from part of the route in Thames Ditton.

I am pretty sure they will have crossing points and I can't see how they will stop you crossing over if you need too ?

Where exactly do you live? There are loads of road closures and no parking zones but there are very, very few streets that are completely blocked in for the entire duration of the event.

Make sure you don't get her up the duff again or else you'll be having the same worries next year during the Olympics biggrin

I can leave my car and can probably cross, but I still wouldn’t be able to get back till the race is done.

I live in Molesey, near by the Hampton Court Bridge, so to get to Kingston I’d need to either cross the bridge or the A809, both of which will be closed till pretty much the end of the race.

That said a very nice man has called me back and said I should be able to get to the hospital from home using the A3 via Esher and Seven hills road, and coming at Kingston from the other side. So wost case I should be able to pick them up (or at least get there) in a very roundabout way.

I live on box hill. 2 ways off of the hill from my house, left and right! Both of which are closed from 6.30am to 2pm I believe.

Hope Mrs and Baby Ivan number 2 are good to go on Saturday!

They are closing all entrances to where I live for 6 hrs

I think it's quite fun.
What time do we need to turn up with the BBQ in order to get a good view? smile

Mate, you would probably be able to see the whole thing from Clapham.
