As per the title - I commute into london along the CS7 and see a lot of cyclists jumping red lights. They are invariably the slow ones that I usually catch up with again on the next stretch before I stop at the next light and they fly straight through, so, does anyone ever throw in a sarcastic comment either as they jump the light and you're waiting, or as you catch them up again? tongue out If they're any good, I might start using them hehe

I've only just started cycling but I'd opt for the leave them be approach. No comment needed when they get ploughed down by a bus.

I am also firmly in the let people be camp - there's enough aggro on the roads as it is...

Late braking beats sarcasm.

I can imagine the smug smile on your face as you typed that. They're not racing you. The simple fact is they would be even further behind if they did wait, so that's probably why they don't

Try it and you will almost certainly get one or more of the following response:

1. The finger.

2. "Go forth and multiply"

3. "What's it got to do with you"

hehe I cycle at a speed I'm comfortable doing the commute at, just because they can't cycle at a speed faster than a snail, that doesn't give them the right to jump red lights and give all cyclists a bad name!

I cycle regularly 160 miles north of where you describe

Im not aware your chums are giving me a bad name

I suspect you need to relax a little
If someone decides to jump a red light is that really your problem?
They either get hit by the aforementioned bus or else chin you for your 'hilarious' comment

None of your business would be my advice

COI: I never jump red lights, as much as never actually means never - on a gauss triggered junction in the middle of nowhere sometimes you need to take the shot on a carbon or Ti bike smile

Normally don't bother. Let natural selection take its course. But I make an exception for bad cases, eg where they have gone through a pelican xing (or a zebra, for that matter) narrowly missing peds.

I saw someone do this a few weeks ago. He went through a whole series of pedestrian crossings, nearly creaming peds on each one. Properly scared a bunch of people.

I got a bit of red mist, caught up and gave him a shoulder barge as I passed. I figured since he was riding a brakeless track bike he'd be used to it.

Did he fall off?

I saw a similar prick on a similar bike in Bristol the other day. Natural selection'll get them sooner or later.

[bleedin' obvious]

Funnily enough, I don't jump red lights yet I barely ever have to stop for them. It might be different in london because the lights are more frequent but if you think or know a light's going to change before you get there, maybe stop pedalling and roll towards it, it'll probably change before you get there and you won't have to use your brakes so often...

I'm not a very good vigilante, I almost wanted to apologise afterwards. Battery is not a proportionate response to being a hipster dick and scaring people. Although I think that technically scaring someone badly is probably assault.

Not sure what encouraging people to be camp has to do with this smile
