Now me being a bit of a sucker for a milf bike I bought a MC Shockwave 8 frame some time ago. Its been sitting on my desk in bits for months now waiting to come to the head of the queue in the build schedule and now I have got to the point where I want to do something with it. I wistfully stabbed in the parts I want for it from CRC, mainly Saint and Nukeproof stuff. Turns out the parts list comes to 2 and half grand. Granted this is basically for all components to build the bike up plus shipping of the bits. Should I go for this and be hamstrung by a 10 year old frame (which is in brilliant nick and just needs my paint skills) until I can upgrade the frame to a Scalp or should I just hang the frame on the wall remove my rose tinted specs and just buy a decent, shudders, modern bike?

The shockwave is a good frame but things have moved on a lot. You'll get a fair amount of money from some retro pervert if it's in decent nick.

Spend your 2K on a nice new bike - Trek, Spesh, Lapierre, Commencal, etc.
