It's Nearly That Time Again - Bike Lights!

Ebay cree xml specials, £15 for loads of lumens, even on dip they outshine most of the other things costing up to £100. Separate battery pack is a small pain but they are great for unlit roads. I have a regular Cateye TD610 thing on the rear, 2xAA batteries, five LEDs, always on flash and reflective backpack cover.
My first "pitch black" ride home tonight of the season! Will be interesting to see how it goes
2 miles of very rural empty bridleway/old railway line
4 miles of rural unlit back lanes
3 miles unlit B Road
1 mile of street lit village streets!
Going to be like the Dunwich Dynamo again!
The Spookiest bit is the initial Briddleway, I see the very occasional person on there during daylight, sometimes I will come across someone walking down there in pitch black conditions with no torch or high viz, whilst im bouncing along at 17mph! Plus they can be a few miles ether way from any civilisation! Nearly wiped someone out when I had poor lights , now with the Crees I just blind them!

After a couple of years with the cheapo Chinese Cree's I am off to get a proper light. They have been good but the last one has a poor battery life and the mounts are always st, which is fine for what I paid for them.
However a solid 2hr-2.5hr runtime is now required. I have decided to go for a Lumicycle Explorer. They have a ton of options and are easily to upgrade to bottle batteries, twin feed etc, etc. The Cree's will be relegated to helmet lights.

I spent the rest of the ride crapping myself that the other light would fail and leave me in the crap. It seems like a lot of cash but in the great scheme of things having better night vision is slightly more important to me.

These cost me twenty pounds from Halfords. They are bright enough to light up an unlit country road so as that I could see the potholes and debris clearly. They are USB rechargeable so you can recharge them from an iPhone charger or a computer with a USB port. They have got a high power a low power and a flashing setting. Given that they cost half as much as the equivalent power Lezyne lights that I had before. I think they are a bargain.

Yes, very similar indeed. Btw those looking at these be careful that your saddle bag doesn't rub the button away. It's not a clever place to put it!I`m very happy with these lights ,I have them on both bikes ,seem to be decent quality.

Very bright and do light the road on dark unlit sections well. I got one for Mes and was so impressed I got one for my road bike for the commute.

I'm now on my 3rd winter using CandB-Seen lights.
Insanely bright (even the rear is 500 lumens) and reliable too.
I notice on the website they have improved on the design in a number of areas, so I'm tempted to get another set simply to see if the new features are any good and because my current set have been such good value I feel they don't owe me anything anyway. (And it's nice to get new stuff!)

Gents I currently have an exposure diablo with a red eye helmet mounted. I've recently moved and currently commuting the 4.3 miles by car as I left the giant anthem X29er round the parents. I'm planning on picking it up this week. However I feel I may need more lighting than what I currently have as I'll be commuting through town (on road cycle path) then on a national speed limit A road through countryside before a .5mile on B roads.
I will chuck a high viz on as well. I'm looking at other exposure lights. Direct I can get a factory reject Race mk6 for under £100 and get a flare for the seat post or rutland cycles have the joystik mk8 for £110 with flare. Or should I be looking at other exposure lights. Don't really want to spend too much over £100 the diablo cost me over £200 as it is!!

I've got a Diablo too. Surprised you want something brighter, serves me well in London. Not brighter but feel just a head torch with rear light on top is not enough. Plus it will assist having a bar mounted light for offroad use.Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
