Problems for me too smile Assume it's site wide. Suspense will continue on how many KOMs I've crushed biggrin

I suspect the answer will be zero frown

It won't take the mrs run from this morning either, it will let me enter my treadmill session manually though.

Happening for me too, thankfully I only use strava for backup, I use the garmin software (not connect the earlier non web version) for my own records.

As the RideLondon 100 is next weekend I now have 53 weeks to get fit enough to ride it next year assuming I can get in. Ideally in sub 5 hours.

Won't work with endomondo, they've always done things a bit differently. hehe

Great news about strava,

Nailed a KOM and a 2nd on my way home yesterday!!!

...

Definitely a Garmin glitch. Data has big jumps and while I'm getting faster, I'm not sure I could manage 33.3mph over 40 seconds on a flat segment on the Triban with a backpack (maybe on the CAAD on the tri bars but I'd need a following wind!)

I'm still keeping it hehe

On my Sunday ride Strava gleefully informs me that on a few segments close to the start I did 449W for 2:09, 438W for 2:24, and 380W for 3:36. roflroflrofl

There's a downhill section in the woods near me that's mainly ridden by old people on hybrids, or kids on jump bikes.
So on Strava I'm 10mph faster down it than anyone else. This means I've been flagged by about ten different people, and therefore have had my KOM stripped, despite my protestations to Strava bods. They say "we can't do anything for you". Well, you could. You could re-instate my fking sector.

I'm just going to have to go back and do it over and over again until they get the point that yes, you can go downhill at at 35mph offroad.

Does anyone know if strava are any closer to getting Ant+ equipment to connect to Android phones? I bought a Garmin Heart Rate Monitor to communicate to Strava on my Xperia Z2 but then realised Strava didn't support Ant+ on Android yet. I'm trying to decide whether to exchange it for a different HRM or wait. I've asked Strava but have not had a reply yet.

Thanks

I've now had a reply to my email from Strava. They've confirmed that they still do not support Ant+ on their Android app and currently have no intentions to do so.....

Not what I wanted to hear, so time to return my HRM to Amazon and buy a suitable one

Anyone recommend a HRM which is supported by Strava's Android app?

Not sure how much you do but I would just buy a Garmin if you can afford it, as soon as you start doing longer rides every mobile will suffer from battery issues.

I have a Wahoo HR strap and cadence, speed sensor at home worth £90 which will never be used again, I should have just spent the money in the first place.

Do this. I flagged a guy recently who had almost certainly used a powered vehicle to bag a few segments, including one where he reached 63kmh up a up a 3.3% avg grad hill!, and strava removed it. He hasnt been back to reclaim it again.... they will get bored of flagging it eventually.

Definitely. If you're on a real budget then look at the second hand stuff on eBay. For £50 you could pick up a GPS unit (cycling, or even forerunner) that will work with your HRM band and log everything you need.
Thanks.
Not really on a budget as such just want something that will work reliably. I won't be on particularly long rides or runs, unless I do the coast to coast again. But for simplicity I only want it to work through my mobile using Strava..... Everything in one place and all of that.

Plug garmin into a PC after the ride - open strava in browser, hit "upload".
All done biggrin

Don't even need to do that anymore, install Garmin Express and log onto Strava, go to upload data from Garmin, authorise Strava to access your Garmin account, then from now on, anytime you upload the data to Garmin Express it will sync with Strava

Or, just upload directly into Strava...why add the extra step?

I like the idea of uploading straight to Strava. Which HRM's have that capability?

Your HRM needs to be compatible with your phone/app or GPS, whichever you use. The HRM data is linked to the ride profile of the activity. As far as I know, none of the HRMs are directly upload-able to Strava, nor any of the similar tracking sites. HRM data is only really relevant when you can compare it to the terrain profile anyway - it's almost meaningless as a stand alone graph, other than to a cardiologist.

I think there are some crossed wires on this thread. The data you record on your GPS device can be uploaded in a number of ways, to a number of websites. The Garmin GPS comes with software and (free) access to Garmin Connect. The other big player is Strava, where you can upload data straight out of your Garmin. Recently, Garmin Connect and Strava got together and now you can 'sync' your Garmin account with Strava, meaning you only need to upload once (to Connect), yet your data is also available on Strava. I think it's to do with users ignoring Garmin Connect, as when I started, you'd need to upload twice, to each site separately. I got bored with that, and stopped bothering with the Garmin site, instead going straight to Strava. Now I'm considering using Garmin Connect again, as it should directly ship that data over to Strava for me, rather than me having to upload it twice.

You can do the same thing with Mio Cyclo units so you're not limited to Garmin now. Can do it over wifi from the Mio 505 too so no need to plug it in to a PC.

I've stopped trying for sectors on my commute now, as I'm regularly passed by people with powered bikes. I actually saw one guy at the bottom of a hill fiddling with his phone before flying up at around 20mph. I average about 7mph up it!
