Link to it here. I'm sure the answer is simple. It's usually always user error

Not sure how it could be user error? Press start at the start, stop at the finish and then upload it? Theres nowhere on the graph that suggests i stopped either

Look at the park run segment 21.44

It looks like you may have lost gps trace for a bit.

I discovered today that if you stop for a coffee mid segment and pause it it will use your ET. I've now got a segment with an average speed of 2.2 MPH to my name and I'm never likely to ride it again. Arse irked

Another strava question - it appears a ride or rides have overridden all my "best efforts" time for running. Its clearly logged as a ride so why has it done this? How can I put this right?

When i go onto my profile the best effort distances don't appear either.

Heres my profile http://app.strava.com/athletes/2289693 can anyone help?

I like to try and beat my best efforts now and again but i am never going to beat bike times running!

I'm seeing a ride on the 16th July that has caused it, if you still have the file to upload, delete it from strava and re-upload it.
It's some sort of glitch but not sure how you caused yours; I am having a few issues now that strava reads garmin connect and it always assumes I'm on my default bike which cocks things up no end seeing as I spend half my rides on a MTB and half on one of two roadies.

I have deleted that ride, now for some reason all of my best effort times appear to have gone awaol?

Might be worth creating a ticket on Strava support (scroll to bottom of page on Strava and click support)

A new stat for me is the VAM on a climb. Not sure if this is only displayed for Premium users but it's simple to calculate if not.

http://www.flammerouge.je/factsheets/climb.htm

Quite a nice and easy to understand measure of climbing speed to compare with others and measure your progress. It's a similar diagnostic to Watts/kg.

Seems like a VAM greater than 1000 is a respectable number and a nice round target to aim for. Having looked back at some long climbs I've done (by British standards) my best is 1116. That was for a 15 minute climb out of Pately Bridge.

I had an idea to improve Strava. I'd like it to tell me how many places I've moved up the leader board when I set a new PR. The only way you can do this at present is to go and find your now second-fastest time, then go down the leader board manually until you find what position that would've been in, then subtract your new position from your old one.

This is a bit annoying at the best of times. If you've just set a new PR on a segment with 5,000+ riders, it's a monumental pain in the arse! irked

If anyone else thinks it's a good idea, could you be so kind as to "like it" on the Strava suggested features page [ur]here?|https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/55420940-Show-me-how-many-places-I-ve-jumped-up-a-segment-ranking-when-I-set-a-new-PR[/url]

Thanks! smile

I can see how that would be nice to know. But it should also tell you how many you've dropped when others leapfrog above you on the leaderboard wink
There are several local off road segments near me, where trimming 5 to 10 seconds from your time would see you shoot up about 250 to 300 places on the leaderboard.

Exactly! If you go and take a look at the Zig Zags on Box Hill, over 28,000 people have ridden times up there, resulting in over 1,100 pages of results. Just a couple of seconds faster can be enough to move up several pages in the results!

Try using Veloviewer to crunch your Strava data, gives you loads of stats like that.

You kind of can, but only on a PC / laptop. Go to the segment you have improved on, then on the right where it shows the top 10 in relation to your time, click 'overall' and change that to 'my results', this will show your times from the past and on what dates you set them.

Cant see the VAM figure on strava (premium). Where should I be looking?
