Won't be a commute, working from home so will nip out for a training ride... Head out on a c.50km loop from Eltham out to Brands then across to Westerham and back.

Jumped up to 6th on that section this morning, think I'll be able to crack first when my leg gets a bit better and the wind direction is slightly more favourable smile

Training ride postponed to tomorrow as it's supposed to be hotter and I need to get some pedalling done in the heat - off for a run instead to convince legs they still need to work.

oh, I assumed it would be both directions?!

I must admit I didn't do it last night as it was pissing with rain and my phone was being st.

But the way I've been recording it is coming from Barnes to Hammersmith, its a good stretch as its all buslane, and this morning I didn't get held up by buses, just a couple of people turning etc.

Its a long enough stretch to hurt though, 1.30 of max effort is tough first thing in the morning with a rucksack!!

I also didn't realise how soon it started and was probably not going that well at the beginning and slowed too early at the end.

Im not sure if my legs have enough in them tonight but will give it a go if they feel ok after the first 8 miles

I've just given Strava a go for the first time. Sadly it really doesn't understand mountain biking. I took a SkyRide ride well group out on sunday for a 15 mile ride at 9MPH (on a road bike), and it told me i was using about 95W... Today i went on my regular mountain bike run around Sutton Park, got back with jelly legs, and lungs hanging our of my arse with an average speed of 12MPH and it suggests my output was about 60W.

otherwise i'm really impressed. had anyone stumped up for the premium service yet?

Managed to give this ago during my 25 mile commute home and first half was going brilliantly was holding 31MPH and then just totally hit a wall and died and ended up dropping down to about 22 mph at one point and went into 2nd.

Should easily be able to crack 1st with a fresher set of legs

I need the heat training, not because it is too chilly!!! 27 degrees tomorrow will do the job as long as I put the effort in smile

I would totally ignore the power output as its impossible to calculate without knowing the exact amount of drag on from your tyres, your frontal area, the wind speed etc etc

Good work on that effort along castlenau, I'll keep trying to improve. I think I need to get some new tyres as mine are clearly hindering me wink

There are two other segments on my way home that I have noticed biggrin

A simple strip, clean and grease would sort that out no problem, got myself one of these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?Mod... and has everything you need to service your bike!

Yeh. Just seems that every time it rains it creaks again.

Btw you can get that toolkit for about 25 some places

Yeah when I got it a year ago it was £35, saved me a fortune in bike shop visits.

Slap grease on everything that should sort it wink

Just got back from a ride.... fitness on the bike feels appalling, cursing myself at every incline as it just feels like I have no climbing legs whatsoever any more since focussing on run this year - I'm definitely getting a turbo trainer in November and putting in a few hours a week.

Any critical analysis of the ride is welcomed... it'll all be used for the hurt locker wink

I signed up for this yesterday - looks like a fun way of livening up a dull commute.
I uploaded a bunch of rides and I'm pleasantly surprised to see how I fared against other commuters - currently KOM Brixton Hill and 5/51 over London Bridge(sb) amongst others smile
