Did my first proper chain gang style training ride tonight - thought it would be interesting to show the difference between that and normal riding - http://app.strava.com/activities/1940077#31800102
Did a lot of the last 8 miles with two others as we got dropped, caught back up, then got dropped again But all in all finished about a minute after the main lot.

Top tip thanks. I'll resurrect the garmin and start using that again. All depends on if I can find the bloody USB stick though!
That's what most people do I think, fking around with an iphone then putting it in your back pocket is annoying, and it has a mind of its own in limited signal areas (i.e. surrey hills).I mean it just isn't accurate, it has tracked me going through woods on my road bike etc. Its a bit un predictable, I was relying on it to tell me what my time up box hill was, and it had me as going through some woods, at one minute going at 4 mph then next at 26... So I'd prefer a garmin for accurate stuff. Unless you are in the town like i was last night in which case its bang on.
I ride with this bloke every now and again, its quite depressing http://app.strava.com/athletes/8315

I agree, there is skill involved going down as well as up.
Not on any of the hills around here there isn't. They're not alpine switch backs, they're steep often poor qaulity roads which should be descended with caution not trying to go as fast as you can, it's foolish. And if expect segments that are very residential to be flagged, same reason as above, people flying down narrow steets where kids may be playing etc doesnt really make for safe yet fast riding.

I have never used a cadence sensor or HRM yet it always gives me a wattage and heartrate.
It probably picks up someone else's HRM and strava always generates a wattage figure based on its algorythm (as we have told you 4 times) and by and large its bks (as we also have said on here many times).THIS is the correct trace for the charlotteville 10, so not sure what you were doing as your thing looks totally different? http://app.strava.com/segments/1606948
IF the segment is created properly then there is no issue, all the TT's I have done the actual time has been within a couple of seconds of the reported one, and the distance is listed as exactly ten miles or whatever.
Regardless of that, around 25 is certainly decent on a roadbike. Not sure of that course, as obviously courses make a big difference, that one doesn't look quick as its not on a dual carriageway or anything like that.
