I had to re-link my Garmin to Strava after a Garmin Express update last week. I also had to manually import the .FIT files from the Garmin for the period it missed.

Yes.

I find the easiest way now is to upload the files directly to Strava from the device. The Files are in "Device"\Garmin\Activities I think. You can select multiple at once.

In other news, last night was a good night for those with a commute home in he Easterly direction. I got a KOM at 27.4mph average, which was a function of tailwind, new TT bars and fit, and knowing where the segment started and stopped. 9:30 for the segment. Quite please. Rubbish legs this morning though.

I have an 810 and without trying seem to have live strava segments enabled
It doesnt need a phone connection

There is a good write up on DC Rainmaker but basically when you approach one of your favourites it counts down and then gives you the map screen with time split ahead/down, PB for that segment and then follows you as you do it

I agree the 1000 looks a monster too.........
Already? I thought this was a future release that hadn't happened yet? Definitely Strava segments and not Garmin segments?
Well yes actually weeks before it was official
Im not sure how it happened but it did seem to coincide with yet another firmware update at the time

So live segments......
Hmm interesting in how many of them dont stop and start where you assume they will - sneaky sneaky

Anyway despite being 6kg heavier than ideal due to a beery summer I have set a PB on the local "it" climb using the live segement and have also appeared at no. 3 on a psycho 9 min technical descent which TBH was faster than I was happy with but chasing the magic strava arrow is quite addictive!

Cheers

i use a garmin 810 to track my rides, always bluetoothed straight to my phone to the connect ap and then transferred automatically to srtava.

Since i have updated the ios the garmin and phone wont upload but say they are connected.

Uninstalled and reinstalled connect and strava but the same - anyone else struggling?

Or is there another way to get from the device straight onto my strava? (Very basic instructions required please!)

810 and iPhone here too. I've not been able to upload wirelessly since the update either.

Very hit and miss for me as well. I have an iPhone 5C and an Edge 510; both running the most up to date software. Yesterday, it uploaded a short ride to the start of a sportive but then refused to upload the main ride and the short ride home!

This morning, without fuss it sync'd and up loaded my morning commute.

Most annoying!

I often have this with either Garmin 810 firmware patches or else Android updates

Each time I need to delete them both from their Bluetooth profiles and then pair again

Same as me, having a few issues recently, well over the past 2 weeks. iPhone 6 and Garmin 510 not syncing via bluetooth so having to manually plug in the Garmin via USB. Updated both devices yesterday and it worked after a ride ... also updated Garmin yesterday so maybe there was a fix in the firmware.

Also I set off on a long ride last weekend (100 ish miles) and when I looked down after about 40 miles, my Garmin had turned itself off at some point during the ride. Switched it back on again, gave me the option to save or discard ... saved it and the file was corrupt when I got back (1kb file!), so I only recorded the last 60 odd miles.mad All in all suspect both issues are Garmin related and nothing to do with Strava.

Excellent! Well done.

I got mine recently... https://www.strava.com/activities/395799365 (76 miles/123km) ...which involved some silly little convoluted loops at the end to get over the distance (just).

Preceded by two 'near misses' so I wasn't going to be denied my digital finishers' badge a third time wink

https://www.strava.com/activities/391655520 - 56 miles/90km = fail!
https://www.strava.com/activities/394965937 - 66 miles/107km = fail!

As you can see, as the distance increases, so does the climbing, and my pace falls away in the opposite direction. Don't sweat the speed. 91 miles is well over what was needed for this month's GF120 challenge. It's well on the way to 150kms, and that's pretty impressive numbers from my point of view.

Does anyone know of a way to adjust the gps trace on an activity?

I did the cycle leg of a team triathlon yesterday around Dorney lake, but my trace shows me as using the outer footpath at times rather than the actual roads used.

I'm sure I've seen a "correct" type button some where in the past which locks the trace to roads. But I can't find it now.

I want need to know how I compared to others in the event, but it currently isn't showing the full segments.

SNAP on RaceShape can fix some things like that, but I don't know it will work on Dorney as it generally only 'knows' road segments. Worth a try.

That's the one I'd seen, thank you.

Unfortunately it doesn't recognise the roads we used which can only be seen on the satellite view. frown

A couple of months ago I bought the entry level Garmin 200 and have become a bit obsessed with data as a result. Even bagging a few KOMs (on lesser used roads and one busy road with extreme traffic light luck).

Since then my wife has bought a Fitbit HR which she has become equally obsessed with and it's finally helping her loose weight. I now wish I had got a better Garmin with HR. However it's more restricting for constant use than wearable tech like a Fitbit - top model with GPS.

Has anyone had experience of using Fitbit - or similar - then uploading the data file to Strava ?? How does it compare to Garmin data as I believe they work in a different way ?

AFAIK fitbit is totally incompatible with Strava, and in terms of data as it does not use GPS, highly inaccurate too.

Me too.

It's also less convenient to upload rides than it is if you use the Strava phone app.
